Quite an apt description and kudos to Mr. Mahindra.

Is he a Bhpian already ? If not then he can apply with this line as his opening line and experience the passion and brutal discriminating love in person

Jokes aside, they have come a long way. What a journey and especially the last 3-5 years of progess in all departments especially safety and innovation, the 700 is a fine example of it.

Well deserved

While this is nice, I think it is worth considering if this constitutes an endorsement of the car by Team BHP. e.g. I don't believe Team BHP has even officially reviewed the car, and certainly we cannot at this stage vouch for the long-term reliability of the vehicle.

Therefore, if we should let Mahindra use the Team BHP logos in their advertising is an issue that needs to be considered, since that would imply an endorsement by Team BHP.

Finally, whether being featured in ads negatively affects our perceived impartiality is worth considering. Would lead us down the road of becoming like a community-driven J.D. Power of sorts.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Are there any ways to get the car earlier, other than to change the variant to the Ax7 smart?
I have booked a Ax7 D At in the Midnight Black colour.
I later realised that the diesel and Midnight Black combo would take longer.

Yes you can. Most policies come with a free look period in which you can cancel your policy. The premium paid will be adjusted for the days covered and the balance will be returned.

However do note that as per a supreme Court ruling, a customer is free to opt for his own insurance agent /company. If the dealer insists, ask him to provide this in writing. He will definitely not do it.

I don't think it is possible to stop them from doing this.

Very often, advertisers will take a single quote out of context from a review, and use that line in their marketing.

For example if a phone review by AnandTech says "Extremely smooth UI hampered by numerous bugs", the brand may use only "Extremely smooth UI - AnandTech" in their marketing material, and leave out the rest of the context.

This happens across various industries, and it is what it is.

Best to assume that the usage of Team-BHP in their marketing may benefit Team-BHP by driving more traffic to the website.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Question - this is specific to the XUV7OO - and in some sense also generic to petrol v/s diesel powertrains.

If the priority is NOT
1. Fuel efficiency / mileage
2. Cost of fuel

BUT

The priority is:
1. Lower cost of maintenance over the lifetime
2. Lesser number of niggles (engine specific)
3. Coupling with an automatic transmission

What would make a better choice? The Petrol or the Diesel?

I was using the Mahindra configurator and in the ax7 awd without the luxury pack, I saw that it has a manual handbrake.

The petrol is cheaper ex-showroom but the price of petrol is generally more than diesel, that would be another factor too.

Hi MarutiGuy1977,
Go for the gem of the petrol engine in the XUV7OO.
Else, it will depend on car to car.

Not all petrol/diesel engine combos by a manufacturer are as equally matched as the XUV7OO.

Honestly, if my yearly run was around or less than 10k kilometers, and with the overall fuel efficiency figures that are being reported, I would have switched to the mStallion petrol motor with Automatic transmission. It is such a lovely combination.

PS: For reference, my yearly run is around 25k kilometers.

Mahindra has turbo Petrol, I calculated maintenance cost base on Mahindra website - difference is around 8K, Here is data

Mahindra XUV700 Review-image-191221-3.23-pm.jpg

I am not sure if it includes adblue but you can add it as say 100 RS per 1000 KM ( 2 ltr of adblue is needed for 1000 KM and per ltr is 50 Rs )

While you are not worried about fuel cost, I am just posting for others who land on this post -
I expect Petrol AT milage around 9 and Diesel around 12 (Point to note, Diesel comes with drive mode so you can always keep it on lower tune with zip mode, lot easier to extract better milage ) , so solely based on milage running cost for Diesel will be ~7.5 Rs per KM and for Petrol will be ~11.50 Per KM.

Brand new Mahindra XUV700 met with an accident in Bengaluru. No impact to the cabin but the front fascia is completely damaged.

Looks like it hit the divider / base section of the metro pillars. May be driver stepped on the accelerator instead of the brakes ?

Either way, not good, esp with a new car.

Thank you! This is a good calculation. While cost of petrol might not be a priority, but it's definitely there on the list

Hence INR 8K difference over 70K km works out to a 9 paise difference per kilometer. Would my understanding be correct?

If so, then that is not a significant difference even in the long run (insert disclaimer around fuel prices over the next 5 years here!)
