Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Heart wins over mind !

Around month back i had booked AX5-DSL 5 Seater AT White, after few sleepless nights of decision making, decided to take the plunge, booked AX7 DSL AT White.

I have not changed my booking for AX5 and kept it as it is, this is new booking. Plan is to wait and watch, take decision based on percentage of price increase next year - If AX7 proves costly will move back to my AX5 booking, man I miss days when we knew how much we will end up paying at the time of booking !

I am expecting 1Q 2023 delivery date for new booking. I do expect accelerated delivery timelines for everyone sometime mid of 2022.
I booked at same dealership, they plan to just move booking amount from one variant to another depending on which one I cancel in future.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I have a curious question, for all those unlucky fellows like me who booked on 7th but have got delivery dates of late next year or so, do we have the price protection, especially once the prices increase after Jan'22 will our booking price be still applicable? Since nowhere have they mentioned that the ones who booked on 7th are the first 25K customers can M&M play around these technicalities and deny us a price protection?

Well, the answer is Yes. The official e-mail that Mahindra sent out when people booked their XUV7OO specifically states that "For your booking, the price that prevailed on 7th October will be applicable".

So when Mahindra specifically states that Price protection would be honored, it will be. Another thing is that, price protection not only applies to the first 25k customers, but to those also who booked on 8th October as well.

Hope this clarifies. Attaching the e-mail I received for your kind perusal.

Sounds very encouraging!!

Have been enquiring and trying to find out on this for months now, no one at the dealership where I booked seems to be really sure about it - all answers so far have been either a No or can’t say. I’ll still believe it only when I see it in real on someone’s vehicle. The 3D animation in its first iteration for AWD non L showed a manual handbrake superimposed/overlayed on top of EPB and somewhere in between they changed it to only manual hand brake.

While overall experience will not change between Petrol manual variants, I will suggest to convince him for automatic, I have not driven manual but I heard clutch throw is little longer ( someone I know who drives sedan commented that )

Second this on Auto, one test drive in manual was enough to put me off! Clutch throw was long, couldn’t feel the bite at all and felt very disconnected while changing gears.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Finally after lot of deliberation, test drives, booked white XUV7OO Petrol AX7 Automatic today!

I drive 2012 Figo TDCi. She is running just fine, has clocked 97k on the odo. With upgrade in mind, set my budget to 25L, a bit flexible.
My requirements are:
  1. Upgrade in terms of every sense - Sophistication, Engine power, refinement, NVH, space, interior quality and safety.
  2. Sedan or SUV, no choice as such but my better half prefers Sedans. She thinks Sedans exude elegance!
  3. 5 seats suffice but large boot is a must
  4. Safety features - more the merrier. Not too peculiar about features like touchscreen, auto AC - Wiper - lights, LEDs, sunroof etc. But personally I find seat ventilation, adaptive cruise control very cool.
  5. I prefer manual over auto. Manual = total control and fun
  6. Did I say more power and NVH?

I am not going to trade in my Figo. Though I will have to find an extra parking space for her after new car comes home. I absolutely love her - Ford tough build, hydraulic steering, chassis, and balanced ride. I intend to use my new car 50% city 50% highway, long drives.

The obvious choice comes up Korean twins. But in mind, wanted something bigger. Which is why not very keen on Kushaq and Taigun. Test drove Seltos, Safari, XUV, City, Tucson, Compass.
But after I test drove XUV’s 2.0 petrol, I knew I am sold on shear power, refinement. Better half insisted on automatic so went ahead with one.
I loved Tucson’s punchy diesel and refinement. Way it accelerates is simply maniac. But all black interiors felt outdated and make the interior space appear lesser than actual.
City’s free revving 1.5 ltr NA is lovely. But dil mange more!
Slavia hooked me with looks and 1.5 ltr TSI 150BHP engine. Will test drove when it gets launched next year. As of now anyways have to wait for 8 months minimum.

Here is more dope on the XUV700.

1. According to my sources, if ever there is a need to dismantle the dashboard for any repairs like AC related repairs then it will be a hell of a task to get rid of the resulting rattles as well as electronic sensor malfunction as the dashboard design and internal network of sensors and wiring is way too complex as compared to the XUV500.
I was curious about impact on aftermarket car leather changes which typically people do.
Here is the one I found.

Not sure about any future rattle owner will face.

Also i did notice visual alignment issue here-

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello Everyone,

Since it might take a month time to complete 1k km with my Blue Bolt (after which I'm planning to do detailed ownership review), I thought of sharing the on-road price I got from Zulaikha Motors, Chennai, which will be helpful for others who decide to take delivery in the upcoming days.

Here's the price paid to Blue Bolt for taking her home
  • Ex-Showroom - 17,59,000 (1st day price protection for AX7 P MT)
  • TCS - 17,590
  • Incidental Charges - 7080 (I insisted that this not applicable but did not stress upon as dealer gave 10L of Petrol free during delivery as well as more than 10+L of Petrol was present in tank while taking delivery and also arranged pooja, etc)
  • Registration charges - 2,72,350 (Here's the catch, RTO charges in TN is 15% of Ex-showroom + 2500 green taxes but we would not be charged for 17,59,000 Ex-showroom but for 17,99,000 as this was the price registered with RTO )
  • Insurance - 61,257 - (Dealer quoted me around 1L+ initially and I showed the Insurance got by mudalaipatti for the same model which was around 72k (Thanks mate ) . At the same moment, dealer said they will arrange for discount and quoted me in the same range of 75k HDFC 1 OD + 3 TP including all RTI, Tyres, Consumable, Engine protecting, etc and another 50% NCB for OD that was carried from my previous vehicle Figo - which Im not owning now)
Yes guys, if you had owned a vehicle which had NCB when you were selling, please get the NCB Claiming letter from Insurer which will be applicable for 3years from the date of issue. NOTE: NCB is given for the owner and not for the vehicle. Since, I had NCB of 50% for my previous vechicle, it saved me 14k.
  • 2Yrs Extended Warranty - 24,189 (I never knew that we can do it ourself using the hamesha app, so I paid to the dealer who is yet to apply for it . Expecting it to be done next week. So, you can apply this yourself from the hamesha app).
  • Fasttag - 600 (This is not worth, though I paid 600 I got only 100 as security balance and remaining 500 only God knows)
  • Accessories - Dealer insisted on 25k basic but I wasn't willing so dropped it.

Yes, this would be a problem. Mahindra's complex dash board would make it hard for any future upgrades to be done and with the white interior, a leather change after a few years would be necessary.

Well it was bound to happen, Mahindra in recent years have made a leap in engineering prowess and competency (Maybe some rub off from Ford? Or Ssayong or both) but whatever maybe the case the thing which impresses me is that M&M and TaMo both have proved that Indian brands are no more to be looked down and frowned upon and can very well compete with giants like Japanese, Americans, Koreans and Europeans and in some areas even outdo them, the huge waiting list is a testament for the same. I just hope that they continue to do like this and make our nation proud.

Congratulations for all the owners (current and upcoming) for their beloved machine and I hope it comes to you at the earliest. Till then, stay safe and happy motoring!
