I also received my second key fob on 10-11-2022 and mine was delivered on 01-07-2022. The despatch is being done in a sequential manner from the Pune plant.

You should get a call from the dealership when your key is received by them. The packet contains the Key Code and last 8 digit of your chasis number, hand written on the face - keep these numbers handy. I saw at least 20-25 similar packets in custody of the Stores Manager, for other customers who are yet to pick up. So you can pro-actively enquire from your side, sometime next month.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

A quick question on a trivial feature - Has anyone figured out why the tachometer has no numbers in informational and minimal displays of the MID? IMO, this renders these mode very much unusable.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I have received my second key from the dealership but they are still not having any idea regarding the sequential turn indicators taillights. Has anyone got them installed from dealership as promised by Mahindra?

I was able to replicate the Check Engine light issue by stopping the engine by pressing the Engine On/Off button and then immediately pressing the Engine On/Off button again to bring the car to standby mode.
Hi, did you get the issue resolved?

It could also be a software issue, an edge case while going immediately to standby mode from engine off. Incase it is a software bug, it could be replicated in other vehicles as well.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi guys

This is probably my first time writing such a long post here. And I am quite dismayed that it has to be one with a rant about the issues.

We had purchased an XUV700 AX7 Diesel about 8-9 months ago. While the car has fared us well in most of the aspects so far, there is one issue that is particularly coming up time and time again. And we see no resolve ahead - DPF.

While this is our first BS6 Diesel Car purchase, and (consequently) our knowledge over the subject is limited, I believe that this is more of a Mahindra Design and Engineering issue than anything else.

So far in our ownership of just 9 months, we have been a victim, not once but twice. And each time it is putting a dent in the pocket.

Once in July, just a day before we were supposed to leave for a ~200km road trip, I saw some fluid leaking in under the car. Fearing that it was a fuel leakage, that too just before an impending road trip, the car was sent to the workshop immediately, only to find out that the DPF Pipe had been bitten away by stray dogs leading for for all of the DPF Fluid to be spilled. The folks at the service center failed to reason how the pipe was so fragile/flimsy and yet left exposed that it could be torn away due to stray dogs exposure (not even rats), which is A VERY COMMON occurrence all across the country.

Rubbing it off as a one-off incident, I just paid for expenses (the pipe and the DPF Fluid replacement) out of the pocket. However, that didn't seem to be the case.

About a week ago, we were again greeted with a DPF Error on the screen. To be precise, it was the E22 error. It said that car would stop working in about ~600 kms and the km count only dropped thereafter, that too probably at an exponential rate.

While I am yet to receive a video proof for this, the SA, upon inspection, told the chauffeur, that this time the wires leading up to the DPF sensor had been bitten by the dogs and need to replaced. The cost for the whole affair shall come to approximately ₹30,000.

He further told, that the wires have been left exposed at several points in the under body of the vehicle and hence they are prone to such biting. And they have had several vehicles come in because of this.

This seems to be a case of bad engineering and vehicle design to me rather than negligent use of the vehicle. However, the folks at the workshop say that this cannot be covered under warranty and hence I am forced to get it repaired under the Insurance.

Even if I do get it repaired this time under insurance, there is no guarantee that the issue will not prop up again, because of the virtue of the design of the vehicle. The people at the service center seem to be clueless for any work arounds for this.

What should I do here?

How can the Service Center brush it off by saying that dogs have chewed on the wires and pipes? Are they now vets who specialise in animal bites? Where do you park your vehicle? Do you have a stray dog menace in your locality? Have dogs developed an affinity towards the DEF? Have any other car owners faced such an incident in your locality?

I suggest you take your car to some other workshop for any further maintenance.

If it is a rat menace, suggest to put some chewing tobacco (not zarda/pan masala) in a plastic bottle. Make a few holes in the bottle for ventilation and attach it to the underside of the vehicle and inside the engine bay with the help of cable ties to keep the rodents away.

Hope you can get these problems resolved soonest and enjoy your car to the fullest.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

I own a Mahindra XUV 700 AX7L Diesel AWD which was delivered to me on 7th July .

I had booked an appointment with VVC Motors Kothaguda in Hyderabad ( henceforth referred as Service Centre ) for my First free service on 9th September ' 2022 . Mr Shaik Jameeroddin was my Service Advisor . When I went to the service centre in the evening to take the delivery of my vehicle , I was surprised to see a deep scratch and multiple other smaller scratches on the driver side door of the car ( pic below) . I informed Mr Shaik that there are scratches on the vehicle . He had a very casual attitude towards this , and he told me that it's normal to get a few scratches when the vehicle is washed at the service centre . I was left without any words after hearing this statement from him . Are the service centres not capable enough to handle new cars with the love and care they deserve ?

I showed him that the scratch is quite deep and probably looks like it came because of some tool or the tool trolley hitting the vehicle and he agreed that such a deep scratch cannot come from dust particles on a washing cloth . He promised me that I should get the vehicle to the service centre sometime and he would help me correct the scratch .

I had to travel out of town for some work and then I went to my home town for a couple of weeks to celebrate Dussehra and Diwali and I was not in town . Finally on 16th Nov , I visited the service centre again and requested Mr Shaik to please rectify the scratch ( along with a couple of other requests for updating the infotainment system with apple carplay and SD card installation ) . He told me that it would take a couple of days for them to fulfill all the requests and I left the vehicle at the service centre . Very clearly I instructed Mr Shaik that please dont do any kind of rubbing which will remove the clear coat or paint from the impacted region .

Next day I got a call from him that all the requests have been taken care of and the vehicle is ready for delivery . When I went to the service centre , I was furious to see a big patch around the area where there was a scratch (pic below) . I politely asked Mr Shaik why the door looked like that . He told me "Sir this is the special ceramic compound we have applied to get rid of the scratch , it will become fine automatically in 2-3 days . I should not worry about this and take the vehicle delivery" . I did not believe Mr Shaik and requested him to clean up the mess and give me the delivery in a proper condition . Even after cleaning the patch remained like that . On closer look , it seems like some harsh compounds were used to remove the scratch and because of extreme rubbing the paint along with the clear coat has been impacted. I was surprised to see how Mr Shaik tried to fool me into taking delivery of the vehicle, assuring me that the patch would automatically disappear in 2-3 days . Sad to see this kind of behavior from a Authorized service centre . Even after a very clear instruction that no rubbing should be done , not sure who gave the Authority to the service centre to do this to my vehicle .

After this pathetic experience with Mr Shaik , I decided to Talk to the service manager for that service centre directly ( Mr Raju ) . I narrated the entire story to Mr Raju and he told me that he would help me out on this . He requested me to take the vehicle to the bodyshop*on hitech city and the experts there would be able to rectify the issue . We went there as well and the body shop incharge clearly told us that this cannot be rectified as the paint has come off and it needs repainting . We came back to the service centre . Mr Shaik and Mr Raju assured me that they would help me out resolve this and give me a call when they have their detailing expert available at the service centre . I haven't received any call from them yet and the matter is still pending .

I have lost trust in the service centre and I fear that they might further damage it . Also getting a new vehicle which is not even 6 months old , repainted is a very sad situation for me . I have already wasted so much time and energy on something which is not even my fault .

Finally I sent an email to Mahindra customer care with all the details to help resolve this . Not sure how much they will help in this case .

From the pics it's not clear whether it is the clear coat which is gone or just a hazing due to the rubbing compound. Did you try anything from your side using a polish, Meguiars or Amway polish may give you better results. Also I don't know what you meant by no rubbing or polishing to remove scratch. As far as I know, they are the only ways to remove a scratch other than repainting. If you meant 'touch up', it will result in extreme paint mismatch and in most cases looks like a scar.
Else you can go to a detailer shop and check with them if this can be removed. Hope you are looking for solutions from 'anywhere', not only from service center.

Clear coat is gone and I guess some part of paint as well . I dont have these detailing supplies and also I feel that If I try things and if it makes things worse then the service centre might just say that they will no longer take the ownership for this damage .

I would prefer to rely on some good detailing shop or the service centre to fix this .

I was thinking that since the damage is already done , lets see if the service centre can help here without making it worse and then maybe use a good detailing shop as a fallback .

I am not a detailing expert and by no rubbing I was thinking that somehow the little scar can be filled up with some clear polish and levelled to restore the shine . That would have taken care of 90% of the problem . The current situation after rubbing has only aggravated the problem which I was fearing.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hello guys , been quite a while since posted in this thread. A lot has happened in my life and didn't get the time to post anything.

FE of 14 KM/L

So , our XUV700 P AT did a remarkable feat. It gave the FE of 14 KM/L . It happened due to many highway and long runs in Uttrakhand and the last long run was from Kotdwara to Noida and after the trip the MID showed FE of 14 KM/L . I was too tired to take the picture then and took the picture of MID yesterday, but till then it's 1st city run had started and the FE dropped to 13.6 KM/L due to heavy traffic in Noida. It was a short city run but it took down the FE figures on the MID .

I took this picture fast before the FE dropped more on the MID ( Sorry for the bad picture quality)
Mahindra XUV700 Review-img_20221123_135721.jpg

Tested the Mahindra RSA

Also , we got a chance to test out the Mahindra RSA services.
So what happened was that we reached my ancestral village in night at around 9 PM ( Anyone from Uttrakhand would know how early the sun sets ) . We left some lights on by mistake and after 2 days we had to go somewhere and the car was dead .

I unlocked the car manually and nothing was working. We called Mahindra RSA and they took up our call promptly.

From there they helped us out and asked if they could tow the car to the service centre if possible. We said you can't get the flatbed here as we were in the middle of nowhere and the closest Mahindra service centre was 200 KM away in Dehradun.

Then they gave us the number of the Dehradun service centre and then they told us to press the horn . The horn did not honk and they told us the battery is dead.

Then from there they gave us someone's number in Kotdwara , we called them and they asked our location. Under 2 hours from the first call to the Mahindra RSA , 2 mechanics were there fixing our car ( No money was charged) .

This was a really positive and good expirence as we were in the middle of nowhere where there were no mechanics in the radius of 20 KM and still they could help us out. This just made us trust Mahindra more .

Till now we have faced no niggles in the car and it deserves the hype it's been getting. Kudos to Mahindra.

A parting shot ( took this a few months back )

Official service bulletin issued for change of the lower arm bush of the XUV700's suspension to resolve the front suspension noise reported by many existing owners.

While I do not have a fixed parking spot for the vehicle, I do have a decent population of strays in the area. However, I have not faced any such issue with any of our other cars, nor have we heard of the neighbors complaining about the same anywhere, the RWA platforms or anything.

This is what I am trying to point out here. Why is the stray menace affecting just one car, and not the others. It, as I pointed out in the original post, I believe is because of the poor design by Mahindra which left such crucial wires and pipes exposed in the underbody and is now causing trouble.

Unfortunately, this is the second workshop that we have tried. We went to Sri Durga, Moti Nagar for the July incident, and Malwa Lawrence Road for this one. Both of them have guesstimated the case to be a menace of the strays.

Sure, I will ask the SA to get this done anyway. Better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for the tip!

Just came across this conversation snapshot in my friend group. Looks like M&M have started providing the sequential blinkers for the L variants. The guy in the picture got it installed last week on his AX7L D AT.

As per the guy the service center itself called him for the replacement, but wouldn't hurt the L variant users to contact their respective service advisors and be ahead on the matter.

This is an excellent update. Thanks for sharing. I hope the service centers get sufficient stock and training to make this change. I guess there will be a big rush for this service action across service center.
