Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Rear camera view is not showing 360 view by default. When the car is put in reverse, it only shows rear view. I have to click on the [] button to get the 360 view.

How to set the 360 view as default?

Yes, same issues with the ScorpioN.
They'll change the sensor.

No, for now, there is no option to change the time format from 24 h to 12 h on the MID, but on the infotainment system, you do have an option to change the time format.

I cannot comment on hardwiring, but if you want to use the USB option, then it is a very easy DIY! I have installed (only) front cam, and used this post as reference. https://www.team-bhp.com/news/dashca...hindra-xuv-700.

Look forward to your reviews of the dashcam.

Re: Mahindra XUV700 Review

Hi All
I have a rather unique issue and thought to check with this group for advice.

We bought an XUV700 in late 2023 after having test driven the vehicle a while back. However, during the test drive I was the on driving and the dealer representative was in the front passenger seat leaving my wife to sit in the rear seat.

My wife is 5’1” - Post taking delivery of the car, we soon realised that in the front passenger seat, he feet doesn’t touch the ground. This has led to one too many swollen feets and uncomfortable rides.

Not sure whether this is a common problem - Any advice is highly appreciated!

I checked with the service centre, and they are claiming it is exactly what it is in all XUV 700s.

2. Is there any way to engage regular cruise control (not adaptive) without engaging AEBS?

3. There's a considerable jerky start whenever I use auto hold in start stop traffic. It's a little off-putting. I come from the world of manuals, so is this also expected behavior?
  • Seat ventilation is weak, I found a way to improve its performance and feel -
    1. Turn off the ventilation.
    2. Set the AC temperature lower than what you actually need.
    3. Turn on the rear AC even if you're driving solo.
    4. Once the car is cooled and ambient temperature is stable, then turn ON the ventilation.
    5. Now re-adjust the AC temperature to the appropriate setting, you may also turn off the rear AC now.
  • Why would you engage regular cruise when adaptive is available ? This is not supported AFAIK.
  • Here's my deduction on Jerky start with Auto-hold : Its because you have to press the accelerator slowly, which increases the revs and then the ECU detects that the auto-hold is to be removed. Once its removed, due to higher rev build up you feel a jerk. In nations[~ US, Singapore first hand experience] with better road infra, usually people accelerate hard once signal turns green. As everyone ahead of them does the same. But in India we have accelerate slowly while starting from signals due to poor road conditions and traffic manners. I recall Astor having smoother behavior in this regard, but that could be because of the way its engine delivers power. I feel using auto hold also reduces the life of brake pads hence I've started putting the car on N with EPB engaged.

You seem to be set on XUV700, Safari-Harrier. For XUV, there is a facelift coming but not anytime soon, maybe in 2025. There may be an EV launch by Mahindra in same segment though. On the other hand Tata may come up with petrol version of Currv in 2024 and same engine is likely to carried over to Harrier-Safari. Since most of the time you'll be driving solo in city, Currv's city friendly dimensions will be more convenient. Please note, none of these cars are comparable to Audi A4 and Ford Endeavour 3.2. If you happen explore beyond the Indians, Tucson Diesel and Tiguan are excellent products and closer to the experience you may be expecting. Between XUV700 and Safari, its the XUV which feels more rounded in terms of core aspects i.e. Engine, Refinement, Ride and Handling.

GFX, Pharoah and Kagu mats, Sun shades (Magnetic Sun Shades for windows - An alternative to sunfilm?) are good after market options. Rest of them its better if you take from the dealer for that OEM finish.

I don't think there's way to increase the space inside centre arm rest cooling box, please do share if you find out a way. And yes, the handrest should have been a bit bigger.

You may have to put fold-able stool or else some blankets for the legs to rest, but it'll be a problem for others. In IT offices there's a leg support which is placed below the desk for resting them, you can try and get such custom manufactured by a carpenter if your wife is the one who mostly sits in the front seat. I always insist my family members to take TD along with me to avoid such issues later.

Why do you say that AX7L is worth every penny when it is 2.5L extra over the AX7 variant?

The luxury pack adds auto hold and electronic parking brake (which has issues), Sony 3D surround system which some people say is good and some say is average, 360 degree camera with shitty quality and very slow rendering, blind spot monitoring with low resolution, auto retracting door handles, wireless charging, ventilated seats (which don’t cool as much as compared to other cars) and knee airbag.

Do you feel all these extra features and half baked features warrant an extra 2.5L?

My journey starts this Thursday, will reach Bangalore on Sunday. I’ve decided to take NH 44.

Chandigarh -> Delhi -> Gwalior -> Nagpur -> Hyderabad -> Bangalore

Will share the feedback once I reach Bangalore

This seems like a subjective answer. What’s worth (or half baked) for one person may not be so for another, and vice versa

I understand that different people may have different views. That being said I will stick with mine.

Knee airbag in itself is a very strong reason.

About Sony audio system, I don't know how people call it average. I'm driving my gajraj since 25 months and the first thing my friends comment on (when they accompany me) is superb audio experience.

360°view and recording. This is a must've feature.and cameras are not shitty afaik. It surely isn't good in low light conditions, but it serves the purpose well. We're not going to have an exhibition of artwork by our car camera, right? It's to help us avoid possible bullying in case of unfortunate incidents. Infact last year a teenager slammed his scooter (around 70 kmph) into gajraj's front bumper when I was at 15kmph. It was an intersection and he was overtaking two vehicles at a time nby extreme right side when he rammed into me. I was in a rural area away from home. The 360° recording along with current speed stamped made his relatives apologize. Then the help when one has to park on side of narrow streets s or bypassing a cow sitting right in centre of road. It's a boon to be able to see your front tyres while moving Inch by Inch.

Electronic parking brake is something I wasn't much worried about, but now I know how convenient it is. I don't have to remember anything and it saves a lot of space.

Telescopic steering is one more aspect which adds to the cost, however it's use might not be there for everyone.

Since you are going for AT, Stop and go feature is another plus point which u can't add later. It's super easy in dense traffic.

Electric handles are far convenient than manual ones.

So overall yes, it's worth every penny of 2.5 lakhs.

If I sum up, given a chance again, I'll still go for luxury variant for 360° video plus recording, sony system, knee airbag, EPB with Stop and go , electric handles, steering maneuvering, vanity mirror illumination (in order of priority).

When I was confused between AX7L vs AX7L
2 laks was a big amount for me (still is), I was always going for lower variant. So I asked my elder BIL. This is what he said ,"You'll have this car for at least 10 yrs, do you want to think about luxury variant every time you drive?".
Thank God I listened to him.

What ever you choose finally.

All the best and happy driving

Very well said Sudan. I've been driving my AX7L for 6 months and 20k km now and the features that you have listed above are the most useful and frequently used ones.

I've found speaker system to be very good. EPB adds so much to comfort and as you said frees up extra space. I don't have ventilated seats but this and auto dimming irvm are the only two features I miss in this car. 360 degree camera in my view is a must have in a cat of this size.

2 lakhs is a big amount for most of us, but as we have discussed numerous times within this forum a higher variant with extra features turns out to be better investment over 5-10 years.

Got the settings to change it to 12 hour format.

One can go to date and time settings in infotainment screen>disable sync date & time to GPS(this will enable you to change date and time manually)> set time>select time format as 12 hours.
