Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

Guys!

I just came across this Pioneer product.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...dio+(SPH-DA01))

Can anyone help me know if this system would fit in our Ventos? I might go to US in the next month or so. What are the connectors used in our HU?

Kagu mats- beige colour

The touchscreen unit is fantastic as others have described. Everything is working perfect. SQ is fantastic (out of the world for me) and will only improve with better speakers. No issues with GPS or bluetooth . Seamless integration and GPS positons ins under a minute. Though phonebook transfer does not take place.
Radio reception is quite decent.
Reads videos and audio files from USB.
Ipod integration- yet to try.

DVD plays even when the car is running. Clarity and sound is really great.
Have not installed the rearview camera, as I happened to get the wrong size. Will look into it later.
Will post the pics later.
Congrats dude. Waiting to see the pics. BTW, where did you install these?

Is it true that the front doors squeak due to design defect? And that nothing can be done about that?

There was some rattling on the left door, but once I reported it, they fixed it and no problems after that. I guess door squeaking and design defect is a rumor ......

A guy I know, who has a Vento and doesn't use his brains well told me that the SE told him that his car's door rattling is due to design defect of all cars and hence cannot be fixed I couldn't believe it and so asked to clarify.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

The rattling sound that I experienced is from the height adjustment mechanism of the left seat belt. It was irritating but got it rectified in a weeks time.

Re: Volkswagen Vento : Test Drive & Review

Guys- the 1.4 litre petrol engines *do* get assembled at the VW Chakan plant but these are for the South Africa spec Polo only (even their sedan is called the Polo, unlike in India). Please look at Amar's new Jetta spotted testing thread, he has confirmed that the badging on the rear of the sedan he spotted (apart from the Jetta I mean) was "Polo 1.4".

But it is rumoured that the Polo GTI with the 1.4TSI engine will be launched next year in India. Will be an expensive special edition, that!

Exactly, glad you still remember that And he also had to fasten the nuts in the inner wheel arch ( don't know what it is called!) and had wheel alignment problems many times and the door rattling too!

Pretty bad luck I must say, Blaupunkt systems are not known to be flimsy or problematic - twice in a row means he is on his way to becoming a case study
The dealer / workshop is clearly taking him for a ride - repeated wheel alignment problem means that its not being done properly . I am apalled at the stupid comment of the workshop guy that door rattling is due to a design problem, he should visit an alternate workshop or at least consult a different guy in the same workshop .
BTW could you please explain further the bit about fastening nuts in the inner wheel ? I could not really understand what it is or why he had to do it .

He kept hearing a rattling noise during idling, which would vanish as the rpm rises. Initially he mistook it to be from the engine bay, but later the service centre guy identified that a nut had come loose, which was holding the plastic cover on the inside of the wheel arch and replacement of the screw did away eith that noise

And the issue with the music system was not of build quality issue, but the system kept skipping songs hence got replaced, then the replaced one kept changing songs at its own will! But I haven't heard from the owner after the second HU change.

Geez spooky , eh
On a more serious note the HU has a random playing option where songs don't follow any order , hope that option was not enabled which caused the skipping . I say this because I had the same reaction when in my earlier Swift , the "random" option was enabled in my Pioneer system and I thought that its a problem with the HU
I cannot rationalise the HU changing songs at its own will, unless of course the CD being played is scratched which causes skipping . I am sure that this would have been checked

No boss, songs din't change at the end of each song, but while playing! in the middle of the songs! And to test this, we used different CDs and even brand new ones. Only after checking it, we were able to confirm something was wrong with the HU and not the CD. The showroom people checked it too, thus complying to replace it
