Please ensure you keep all the documents pertaining to the connection closure. It's better to scan it & keep a copy online. Out of the blue they'll send you a bill with all the fines of 'not returning the device'.

If you mail Airtel, they will always switch you to the plan you need, and their Customer Care is quite efficient that way.
I think internal dynamics of Airtel is a little complicated than that. i had contacted Airtel support min 10 times. They plainly told me 4Mbps is maximum supported at my house. But they were parallely giving FTTH connections as well. Looks like Airtel does not have its own fibre infra and is using third parties like Sterlite for providing FTTH. So they are very reluctant to switch existing DSL customers. All they promise is extremely low rentals like 500pm and large amount of FUP like 120GB to retain DSL customers.

They are trying to come up with V-fiber networks where you can get speeds up to 100mbps on a DSL line with a new modem an few upgradations in the network. But i don't think this is going to be as stable as FTTH.

Its been only two months since i started with them and in both months around mid of the month there was a two day downtime. I had to call them and they would send a most lethargic guy to either call me and ask "is it still down sir?" and then would disappear. This month i mailed there Nodal officer and he called me up within few minutes and explained there is an update going on in my area hence would take a day to be up again. Now i hope with this escalation, things might improve going forward. Good i have airtel as a backup

But one thing for sure, they are the cheapest atleast in Delhi. Even ACT is expensive compared to there plans. Do check their site for plans. http://www.sitinetworks.com/

Thanks, but what I remember was that this 1099+stuff plan is one on which they could tag unlimited local+STD calls on the landline at Rs. 99 extra. I was very keen on that (my primary Internet link is ACT); it has cut my family's combined mobile bill substantially.

All that I can suggest is that shoot a mail to 121@airtel.com with your account details and your query, and they should be able to get back to you on what plans they can offer you.

PS: I too pay 99 extra for unlimited Local/STD.

I submitted the form from your previous post; will wait for 2-3 days for a call back.

That link is for V fiber which is slightly different from FTTH. These are the current Airtel FTTH plans in Bangalore. All local and STD calls are free.

What's the cost of the plan??
ACT Total cost per month: ₹1494 (incl taxes) 100Mbps and 175 GB (FUP) actually I'm in the 75 Mbps 125GB plan there was a long lay off after Cyclone Vardah and they are showering their clients with a lot of good will. Best 4G dongle is JioFi and it's subscription free Buy online for ₹1999 (for the device). See the blistering speeds of ACT.

This is highly area specific, at home near anna nagar, I get decent speeds, and at office, which is close to their office in Siruseri, its hopeless. I would rather use edge from my Vodafone than using Jio. They still need to improve their reach and infra

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

1999 without taxes per month for 180 or 170gb and 40mbps IIRC. Been a airtel customer for years and their response time as far as resolving hardware issues & such still leaves me in aw. Ping is 5 to 8.

Don't think I'll ever leave them either. Current deal of free local and std calls is also a big deal.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Ah, here's Hathway that I moved to from ACT, after cyclone Vardah.

Cost almost the same as that of ACT (maybe a hundred or so cheaper than their 100 Mbps plan ACT Lightning)

As for speeds - and note, you need an AC1200 or so router for this so costlier than the "free router" they or any other ISP gives you, see this speedtest.

Looks like suddenly Chennai is getting quite a few choices. Their plans seems to be better costwise, but with lesser FUP. Still a good deal.

Are the speeds consistent or do they vary?

I am on 899 plan which offers speeds upto 100mbps till 200gb and 3 mbps thereafter. However, I seldom get more than 2 mbps actual download speed.
Can you share your actual download speeds and plan?

ACT sent this:
Thank you for being part of the ACT Fibernet family. As a gesture of our gratitude, we have upgraded your 50 Mbps, 60 GB plan to 60 Mbps, 100 GB at NO EXTRA cost. Please reboot your router to activate the upgraded speeds.

PS: I am on ACT Blaze plan.
