Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

On hindsight I seem to have wasted way too much time on web series. Here is a list and subjective ratings of most of what I watched:

Absentia (Good)
Big Little Lies (Very Good)
Bosch (Very Good)
Brain Games
Chernobyl (Very Good )
Chernobyl Aftermath (OK)
Covert Affairs (Good)
CSI (Good)
Extant (Meh)
Fargo (Only first two seasons. Don't bother about the rest)
Fleabag (Not my cup of tea)
Forensic Files (Good)
Fringe (Cringeworthy)
Game of Thrones (Very Good)
Grey's Anatomy (Very good, tapering to Meh)
Hanna (Good)
Homecoming (Season 1 intriguing, but ends a bit abruptly)
Homeland (Very Good)
House, M.D. (Very Good)
Jack Ryan (Good)
Killing Eve ( Very Good, Good, then Meh)
Mentalist (Very Good)
NCIS (Good)
Person of Interest (Very Good)
Silicon Valley (Very Good)
The Big Bang Theory (Very Good)
The Handmaid's Tale (Very Good, probably not for everyone)
The Good Wife (Very Good)
The Last Ship (Very Good, tapering off to bad)
the Man in the High Castle (Very Good, then Good)
The Night Manager (Very Good)
The Vampire Diaries (watched for Nina Dobrev!)
The West Wing (was irritated by people who could talk only if they walked)
The Widow (Good)
Twin Peaks (Good)
Upload (Very Good)
Westworld (Very Good, then OK)
You Are Wanted (OK)
Young Sheldon (OK)

Hindi webseries

Breathe (S1 good)
Criminal Justice (Good, though jail scenes are overdone)
Hostages (Good)
Inside Edge (S1 Good, S2 not so)
Sacred Games (Meh)
Special Ops (Very Good)
Test Case (Very Good)
The Family Man (Very Good)

Hopefully this might be useful for some.

Nobody here watching the mandalorian? I find this hard to digest. What was your reaction when you saw Luke on the big screen?

I almost fell off my couch in anticipation.

Band of Brothers and Pacific on HBO. 20 and 10 years old respectively but great series for WW2 fans.

My first reaction on seeing him, was to Google all about the final episode.

What a brilliant end to the series! I'm now in a fix deciding on which limited series I should watch next that can match up to the mandalorian. Has anyone watched A discovery of witches? Its apparently got good ratings.

I did and IMO, season 2 is almost as good as season 1 and the best part was the 1 episode per week release. Makes it a much better watch I think.

Spoiler alert! do edit. Will be interesting to see the story arc in Season 3, I have a feeling its going to be tangential to the current story line.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Watched 'Animal Kingdom' on Netflix based on recommendations on this thread. While it started slow in Season 1, the pace soon picked up, which led to us almost binge watching episodes in between where possible.

Loved the casting of some of characters such as Pope and Smurf. The brothers too were good in their roles.

Strictly not meant for family viewing.

So the potential story arc in 3 will probably be the mandalorian helping bo katan to retake mandalore. Somehow that dark saber has to reach bo. But she has to fight din djarin. Then you have baby yoda being trained by his jedi master.

The book of boba fett is a completely different series!

Book of boba fett will release earlier in Dec, followed by Mando 3 from Christmas until Feb!

I cant wait for the Ahsoka and Obi wan series scheduled for 2022. Hayden is back as Anakin!

Dave Filoni and Jon Favereu have fixed the tragedy that was the last three sequels. I hope those writers, producers, and directors are never coming back. Hate those movies.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Watched ‘JL50’ & ‘Welcome Home’ on SonyLIV before my month long subscription expires.
JL50 should have been a movie, 4 episodes 30min each. Good concept but can be much better. All great actors in cast give good performance. 3.5/5

Welcome Home’ also has some pretty good performances. Dark storyline and setup. 4/5

Anybody here follows Young Sheldon? I was a huge fan of BBT series and loving this YS series as well. Only pain point is they release 1 episode in 2-3 weeks nowadays on Amazon prime. Waiting for all the episodes of ’The Expanse’ to get aired post which will binge watch. That’s another great series for sci-fi lovers

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

I watched Sopranos - all seasons a few weeks back. Was my first time watch and needless to say, it was such a treat! Beats watching new mediocre stuff anyways. Next up is The Wire.

I got distracted by The Undoing in the meanwhile. But that's not worth the time. Not a patch on both seasons of Big Little Lies.

HBO on Hotstar is a steal. A lot of my favourite series is there, both old and new. Netflix is meh in comparison, except for The Crown maybe. That's 5/5. What a stellar job they have done with casting + script. Brilliant!

I was so impressed that I even watched a few interviews with Nina Gold. She is a genius and got a hand on almost all good ones out there - Chernobyl, GoT and a whole lot of movies. Amazing!

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Is Big Little Lies available on any streaming platform in India?

I finished off season 1 and now on season 2 - quite an ensemble cast and great performances.

I strongly recommend app called "Just Watch" where you can search for any TV show / movie (set country as India) and it will tell you where the show / movie is available for streaming or rent or buy.

I use it occasionally when needed.

It was a designed as a movie only but then the pandemic happened and the producers made it a series and which explains the abrupt and clumsy end. Too many loose ends in the script made the series clumsy and despite the wonderful star cast, the series was a let down.

And talking of series, The Surgeon’s Cut on Netflix is a wonderful watch. Featuring four renowned surgeons from across the world and including our own Dr. Devi Shetty, the series tells us about the motivation and the pressures of the most famous doctors. The series is an eye opener and wish more doctors think and behave the same as the doctors featured in the series.

Is it possible to understand the plot without any background on the Star Wars series?

You can and thats the beauty of it. It will pull you into watching the first two trilogies, available on hotstar. Brilliant epic movies if you haven't seen them. My suggestion is to watch the movies first...

Interesting. Can you please help in detail with the best order to watch the movies / series.

This is for me - zero background / knowledge of watching Star Wars.
