A Marathi restaurant in Bangalore !

What is the name of this restaurant ?

Where exactly on Queens Road is this located ?

What are the recommended items (both veg and non-veg) ?

Had been to "Mint Masala" on the Bhashyam Circle, Sadashivnagar. Ambiance is very nice, service is great and the food is also good though on pricewise on the little higher side. Being a weekday, the restaurant was comparatively free. One needs to book the table in advance if they plan to dine on weekends.

There's one more Marathi mess in Malleshwaram 6th cross. Apparently they give only takeaways. I have tried this once and liked it.

I've heard good reviews about the Queen's road Marathi mess. But haven't found time to try it. I guess it is somewhere near the Shahwar Nissan dealership.

@rohan, I don't think you can call it a restaurant. It is more like a military hotel kind of setup.

Maratha Bhavan (Behind the Congress Party office on Queens Road). Not sure it has marathi food, people who prepare and run are marathis. Mudde Mutton curry/Soppina Saru is very famous there and crowded.

The dry fish items are good, but do not go for the gravies.
The biriyani is nice, the dosas are pretty run off the mill.
Instead try something else.
I've stayed in banashankari for 3 yrs and that is not one place that will call you back for a second time.
All I can say is, it is overrated.
I'll disagree here Preetam.
I have been to this restaurent many times and even took parcel.
The food tastes really good. Gravies, pls try kori gassi(prawn /fish) Mangalore style it's really good.

Thanks in advance guys.
If you like chinese food
Why not try 3 quarter chinese. It's good and fits your budget well. Also Mainland China.
You can try Angeethi too

It's called as Maratha Darshan. It's not a Marathi Hotel, but just a name.
Their main brach is in Malleshwaram.
Queens road, Take right at Nissan Showroom, a lil further towards your left.
Ambience just ok definetely not at all dirty. But you can find all type of people flocking this resaturent.
One has to wait for hours on rush day to get a seat there.
I often visit this place, once a week ;-)
Their mutton fry is to die for, along with mudde.
Also Nati Koli fry is also good.
Biryani is served only on Sunday's
Very very Value for Money

For Marathi Food,

Visit 'Rajvardhan Restaurent'.

Location :- Dead opposite to Central Mall, JP Nagar (Go straight in the lane). The shop is 5th/ 6th on right side.

You get, Sabundana Wada, Khichadi, Pohe, Wada Paav, Marathi Masalas/pickles, Thalipeeth, Shrikhand Puri, aam Panha etc. (Though not meals).

Happened to stop for lunch at Bawarchi, only to receive horrible service and food.

Lassi made out of milk-powder and the dum biriyani tasting like regular rice, makes me never wanna go there again. Add to it, delivering a chinese starter when we specifically ordered for a hyderabadi one.

I would say skip it and go to Tamarind, opened right opposite to Bawarchi.

If you like "savji style" (a marathi style dominant in and around border areas of Maharashtra like Belgaum, Hubli etc.) non-veg food which is very spicy, "Savji's Restaurant" on west of chord road (near 1st block rajajinagar and west of chord road junction, near to Isckon temple) is THE place. Their mutton chops (dry and gravy both), Chicken curry, Kheema balls (green gravy and red gravy, also comes in dry form) with either Jowar rotis or Chapatis is incredible.

They have branches in Vijaynagar and Gandhinagar as well.

You''re better off going to "Degchi" a few shops away from Bawarchi, towards kasturi nagar.. Amritsari food..

I love it . Also there is a prawn starter, Prawn Pebbles , Slurp!!

Although I am biased towards this place, I am sure people would love the stuff.

The steaks are YUMMY!!!. Make sure you drink the coconut coolers , trust me you will LOVE it.

Oh and they are opening up a bigger place in Frazer town.
