So this Saturday with no mood to cook - I looked up Swiggy and found this restaurant:

On the weekends they have Biryanis too. The name sounded familiar (from Kolkata) and went ahead and ordered Chicken Biryani & Chicken Chaap.

The Biryani was good, typical Bong Biryani, less spicy and flavorful. Chicken Chaap though was very very oily and heavy. There is no way one person could finish it.

I'd recommend the Biryani though. Worth giving it a go.

Lajawab in Indiranagar CMH Road is good. So is Raaga on CMH Road opposite Shanthi Sagar near Double Road junction.

Another good place is Tandoor on MG Road, not too far from Indiranagar

I'd been to (IPC) Indian Paratha Company last evening ~9ish. Was hosting guests & it kindof didn't help that the food was barely OKish compared to the last time I went there.

Its understandable that the service took (alot of) time being a sunday, but it was unorganised with some of our orders coming in parts & our Saute'd Vegetables coming midway instead of as a starter. One of us had to be on our heels to get them to serve stuff.

Then the parathas were too oily & paneer butter masala's were like plain mash tomatos with paneer dipped. Paratiiza's were good though.

Saying coz this is really not supposed to happen in an upscale restaurant.

Also, be careful of truckers speeding on the service road. Hope they put up some speed breakers there ASAP else someone could seriously get badly hurt or worse...

Anyway, a heads up here that weekends has decent crowd & ALL-Veg menu is for pure veggies like my folks. But reach around 7ish so the cooking as well as waiting staff isn't too tired.

IPC generally gets it right and has been improving consistently. Didn't you find the sautéed veggies priced quite exorbitantly?!

Bangalore needs more of such outlets on the highways. Adige Mane on the highway between Harohalli and Kanakapura is another such place. The food is not exceptional, but the ambience is good. Definitely worth a pit stop if driving on that highway.

Any other such recommendations would be welcome!

Maybe, I'd only been there on 2 weekday's before (when it's deserted).

(PS : And btw, they've removed the door for the loo in their restroom! It was abit embarrassing for my nephew, but he's 11 & we stood in the way.... lol not very 'loo friendly' anymore!)

At IPC, what's not..? tbh this time I felt that for everything (guess it'll avg ~600 per person for a basic dinner meal.)

I planned spending 1.5 hrs of enjoying food & poking fun at each other (just the regular banter at a good location), instead it passed in fetching the waiter for each plate. Abit distracting from the main purpose of the plan.

Bangalore needs more of such outlets on the highways.

Yeah, but they've to serve weekend crowds better with extra staff.

tbh, unless they can, prices will have to be commensurate to the food.

Re. Adige Mane - driving south from Bengaluru it comes on the right hand side. The owner unfortunately has learnt the trick of the eateries on the Mysore highway, and put those barricades which you have to slalom around. So you can't miss it.

This place is vegetarian, except that some items can include eggs.

PS. I had to look up what 'tbh' meant!

Last time I went to IPC, the food was decent but in between our mean they had a mutiny and the entire staff walked out. Left to the counter guy and one chef.

They are actually very inconsistent. Sometimes the parathas are fantastic along with the lassi, sometimes it's sub par.

I think the best time is breakfast. We went once in the morning like 9-10am and there was hardly any crowd resulting in superb parathas.

How recent was this walkout - that is indeed bad news. The owner Nirmal Sandhu is said to be a nice person, I wonder what triggered the walkout.

The loos indeed are a disgrace, and so are the flies that occasionally visit that place.

This was a couple of months ago. Bit embarrassing as the waiters started arguing with the manager and the guy at counter and then I saw a bunch of them walk out.

I might go there this weekend. Been a while since my last trip.

While initially waiting to bill the order, this time also they were being impatient with each other when the CC machine printing roll was over. The counter guy was helplessly embarrassed for a minute.

Anyway, have a gr8 drive!

Does it matter? After spending SO much on the location, I can't fathom why many hotel owners fail to manage 5-6 servers.

And most customers, after paying handsomely for a basic dinner with family/friends at (mainly) a good location, won't keep waiting for them to get their act together.

A peek at their Zomato responses showed how they were simply pasting the same reply to anyone complaining. I don't mean to be spiteful but IMO a good owner who actually regrets would show that in the responses.

Other areas are also fine as I am ready to travel for a tasty Gujarati meal. :-)
