I am not sure that a French movie subtitled in English is for this thread, but it is so good that I will take a chance so people here see what is one of the great movies of all time.
Jean de Florette and Manon of the Spring. Two movies as sold, but really a part 1 and part 2 story and must be seen in that order. I would also recommend that you do not start to see it till you have both in hand! And a large screen HD tv would help because of the gloriously shot French countryside that can be best appreciated that way. Although, even the scenes from inside the cottages are best appreciated on a large screen.

I would say its a fantastic movie. A bit lengthy but gives an insight about how MOSSAD ,CIA etc etc work. There are some loose ends though but if you like spy movies then its a decent stuff to watch esp when its so closely related to real life tragedy.

Watched Curious case of Benjamin Button and Inglouroious Basterds.

CCBB : Somewhere I read that its like Forrest Gump. Somehow I did not likde the movie except for Cate Blanchet's performance. I just did not get the hang of a person ageing backwards.

Inglourious Basterds :
Most awaited movie for me but turned out to be a bad movie. It does not score high as a WWII movie nor as a Quentin Tarantino movie. The only highlights of the movie were Chiristoff Waltz's rendering of Col. Hans and a set of good dialogues. Everything else felt like a desperate attempt to make mockery of Nazi high command. Felt like a Josef Goebbels' movie for the Hollywood.

Ditto. Same is my opinion for both the movies. You cannot compare Forrest gump with CCBB. Forrest Gump was & is really a fanstastic movie - brilliant act done by Tom Hanks.

^^^^
It was his golden period.

BTW downloaded all the episode of South Park in 22 days from obvious places.
Its sad they are not aired here.

Its very enjoyable to watch once in a while. Although it an animation, its not meant for kids.

The pure cinema thread will be more appropriate.

Watched 3 movies which were kind of the romantic types

Juno: About a 16 yr old gal who gets pregnant and decides to have the baby and give it up for adoption. The lead actress has done a great role and also is well supported by the cleanliness freak lady who is going to adopt the kid from her. Is a must watch if you like this genre of movies as it talks of life from the gals point of view.
3.5/5

Maid In manhattan:
Well watched this movie for JLO but she is not in her best clothes in this movie. She is a maid i a hotel who is mistaken for a socialite by a senator who pursues her. As he is a page 3 person they get pursued and as usual one day she gets caught or her lies gets uncovered
Then the same stuff about love over job n all that plays out
2.25/5 for a nicely laid out movie and some decent acting

My Best friends wedding:
Well off late due to my finance Prof i started figurin out the good Julia roberts movies.
This was one of them which had a simple story her tryin to break her best frnds marriage as she loved him herself.
This one had been copied by mere yaar ki shaadi hai which was nice in itself. Very nice acting and it had Cameroon diaz in it rippin in her BMW. Awesome.
Nice plot and the movies pace is great
3/5

Aah, my old time favourite. The other lawyer also acted pretty well--the guy who is sloshed in the court, and keeps stuttering.

Marissa Tomei was also damn good in it.

2012. the worst English movie ever. There is everything in this movie, this movie is more masaledar than the most masaledar David Dhavan movie.

waste of time and waste of money.

cheers,
ac

Venu, he is not sloshed or remotely alcoholic. But, he has not much experience of going into trails and is damn afraid to present his case. hence, his huge stuttering.

I watched this movie umpteen number of times and can even mouth most of the dialouges ( best being marise tomie talking about biological clock and Joe retorts with one of the most funniest monologues...check that out...it happens in the log cabin in forest)

As i type, i am seeing this movie again. One of the best comedy movies in history
