Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Want to see a different kind of drama? Astitva = 4 / 5 stars. Very interesting, very engaging & great performance by Tabu. A husband becomes suspicious after his wife's music teacher bequeaths all his property to her (his wife).

Available for rent on YouTube. We enjoyed it last night.

Badlapur : 4.5 / 5

Rewatched this gem of a movie again - absolutely fantastic movie, filled with so well done characters and acting. The storyline is flawless and fast paced, and the movie never lets you off the hook. Has to be one of Varun Dhawan's best acted movies till date.

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Watched 'Gunjan Saxena' on Netflix. Its surprisingly decent & well told film with no gimmicks. Janhvi Kapoor hasn't done a bad job, but perhaps a more powerful performer would have elevated the film to another level!

It's probably the only movie in which he has acted.
But I agree, what brilliant acting. This is his only movie that I actually enjoyed. He should do more such stuff, rather than the 21st century govinda stuff he's been belting out.

Little disagree here, Varun Dhawan was superlative in Badlapur but he was equally good if not worse in October as well. The guy knows acting but he needs better directors and not the usual bungee jumping random stuff that he does !!

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Saw Gunjan Saxena after reviews on this thread. I agree, it is better than expected. Pretty well made without any overwhelming Jingoism. Shows some struggles of being a woman in a male dominated field.

Surprisingly Jahnvi Kapoor outdid my expectations. If it was not for this thread, I would have skipped the movie.

I agree. It was way ahead of it's time. My sister, and most young girls off the time were mad about the guy after qsqt, and a lot of them were horrified how he went from chocolate boy to psycho in just one movie!

Also, a well made gangster movie aptly named GANG and starring Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Kumar Gaurav, Jaaved Jaffrey and Mukesh Khanna. The movie was directed by Mazhar Khan and he didn't live to see his directorial gem. This movie was also ahead of it's time and got tanked but if released now will get it's due for sure.

You can watch Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho which also is a satire movie made by director Kundan Shah.

Khuda Hafiz- Please avoid.
Patchy script, average acting craft except Anu Kapoor. Surprisingly even the action sequences are mediocre by Vidyut standards. The only good thing is the plot on which the movie is based. Give this plot to someone like Neeraj Pandey and get a blockbuster.

All in all- unless you're diehard Vidyut fan, please avoid this attempt.

Really? I saw the other one of his, yaara, I think.
What an absolute ridiculous piece of unmentionable thing it is. It was like watching a badly made school play, only less professional.
I was thinking of watching this one today, but thanks for saving my evening

Re: The Hindi Movies Thread

Lootcase **1/2

Heard a lot of good reviews about the movie and decided to watch it today. It is a good one time watch but predictable. If you have watched movies like Delhi Belly or few more comedy crime movies then you will relate and predict. Kunal has done a good job however not much was to be done for Vijay Raaj. Dialogues aren't impressive and music is below average.
