Re: The Cricket Thread

Who suggested and who all agreed to drop Kuldeep? A POM in the last game and a sub continent wicket, what was the logic? Who really decides the playing XI in a scenario where the regular captain isnt playing? If this was KL Rahul's decision then he purely on this he should be asked to go to Bollywood.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Where in it was a wrong decision to drop Kuldeep, but if we loose this it is batsman fault rather bowlers, if they can’t chase 140 off runs on fourth day pitch they should question themselves.

Lot of our failures recently has been due to batting then bowlers, regular failures like Kohli, Sharma and Rahul keep playing on reputation where in performers are continuously sidelined.

The selectors dropped Hanuma Vihari in favor of Rahul, and Prithvi Shah is being treated as an untouchable. After looking at the stats of the best bowlers in domestic cricket, Jayadev has not done anything that significant to be recalled after 10 years and playing in the Indian team, if so why are the other top bowlers from domestic cricket not considered for national selection? It is the lack of batting skills on a turning track that has affected the Indian team's batting, how many of our current batsmen have played in the Ranji trophy?

People who have watched / followed this match live on TV would certainly not forget these-

- In the first innings of the match Shivnarine Chanderpaul scored unbeaten 137, his maiden test century all thanks to West Indian umpire Llyod Barker. The batsman was let off twice by the umpire before he crossed 20 runs (IIRC). Chanderpaul was trapped plumb in front once and the second time he was caught behind, the umpire turned a blind eye on both the occasions to India's dismay!

- In India's first innings, Sachin Tendulkar was going great guns only to be dismissed by Bishop 8 runs short of a magnificent hundred. However, replays later confirmed that Bishop had overstepped, surprisingly by about 10-12 inches, and umpire Barker "did not" notice it!

- Chasing 120 for victory, Indians were rocked early, thanks to umpire Barker again! Sidhu was dismissed for 3 by Franklin Rose, AGAIN of a no-ball!

To add insult to injury, a couple of days after the match concluded, umpire Barker apparently had divulged that he was under pressure not to 'no-ball' the host nation bowlers!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Thank you Ashwin and Iyer, but what a disastrous batting performance from top order and nothing will change.

What an innings Ashwin. I particularly enjoyed the winning over.

And great show by Bangladesh too. They will be rueing the missed catch of Ashwin.

Wow! What a knock from Ashwin!
That one handed six was extraordinary!
Axar, Shreyas and Ashwin save India the blushes.

KL Rahul captaining India!

Remember Shikhar getting injured in the WC and then this useless fool gets his chance and always coming and slowing the runrate in crunch matches ... heaping pressure on the whole team resulting in a lost WC ...How can the Selectors forget that!

Even Kuldeep would have scored more runs than KL, had he played this match

Sad state of affairs ... good talent getting benched and useless favourites getting endless chances!

Re: The Cricket Thread

Lucky victory for team India today. Does anybody have any links to post match analysis from any of the reputed experts? I would love to see what they think. I loved some of those sky sports videos where Nasser Hussain, Mike Atherton analyze England matches and if there are any similar quality analysis for Indian games, I’d love to watch that.

Re: The Cricket Thread

Me like many Indians: Let Sanju, Shreyas play ODI and tests and Surya play all 3 formats. Shreyas or Sanju will be captain for ODI and test team. Hardik play T20 and ODI and T20 captain.

BCCI: KL Rahul will be captain for ODI, T20 and Test teams of India.

True to his pattern in the past, he will play one big inning in the nick of time just as talk of him being dropped heats up, and then he will retain his place in the team

Re: The Cricket Thread

Guess Bangladesh still doesn't have the "sustained brilliance" or endurance to win test matches against India. That doesn't mean India played good cricket. Far from it.

R Ashwin is worth his weight in gold. He might have been ineffective outside Asia during one phase of his career, but that period is far behind him now.

Cricbuzz usually have good stuff going on pre and post match. I usually enjoy the hosting by Gaurav Kapoor and Harsha, JOY, Simon etc in panel.

Shreyas for ODI and tests.
SKY for only t20 as he hasn't don't anything worthy in ODI and he doesn't look like a test player.
Sanju can't find a place in team and you feel he will be captain

I feel Hardik should Captain t20.
Shreyas should Captain ODI.
Pant or Ashwin should Captain Tests.

And no one should play all formats. With IPL it's not sustainable and we have enough talent for all formats.

Above all this Hero worshipping should be stopped. Whoever isn't performing should be shown the door. When Puji can go to domestic and county to gain form why can't Kohli do the same. It's the spineless BCCI and selectors screwing the team again and again.

Ashwin is the biggest match winner India had since last decade. He should be an automatic pick and not be treated inferior when jaddu comes back.

Ashwin like Kumble has time and again saved matches for India while batting too, Jadeja is not a certainty to play cricket beyond 2023 due to his affiliation with a National party. Kohli and Rahul should either play Ranji matches or look at other options, no further chances for these two players.
