Yup, I was a user of EZ pass as well. And apparently nothing has changed there in 20 years. Last week a friend from the US visited me and when he saw the FastTag he was aghast that in the US he still needs that fat, big and ugly box on his windshield while here in an "emerging country" we have a slim sticker.

What's the difference between active tag and a passive tag ?

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Have been reading the posts from several members and would like to share my experience in getting the FasTag from ICICI.

I applied through online portal on 21 November and around 25 November they wanted ID proof again.
It looks like only central government ID's (read PAN, Aadhar etc.,) are accepted everywhere.

After uploading tha ID again on 27 November, I was able to login and see that the account was activated around 29 November.
I did not contact them or raise any complaint as I was not in a hurry and after hearing from others that there is no use.

It took quite a long time to get the FasTag number allotted.
Finally the tag was shipped on 10 December and I received it on 12 December.
Overall it has taken about 3 weeks.

Looks like the delay is due to overloading of the establishment everywhere.
Hopefully the tags are properly matched with the car and works at the toll when needed.

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

I have been an Equitas Fastag user since a couple of years and never faced any issues. But since the morning I am unable to login to their mobile app (though the internet link is working) and neither the 1800 help-desk number is getting picked up. I just sent an email to the Equitas support team, but got an undelivered message.

Can anybody please advise if Equitas Fastag is still existing or have they closed shop? The last time I used it was in May 2019.

I used it today too so it definitely works. But their mobile app is problematic sometimes especially if you haven't used in a long while. Try reinstalling to reset the 4 digit PIN by providing a new password.

I applied a week ago, and all I have is a sms that I received when I placed the order. The toll free number is mostly busy.

Nov 18th : Order placed (SMS)
Nov 22nd : FASTag issued (SMS and Email)
Nov 28th : FASTag Wallet created. Dispatch in 3-4 working days (SMS)

Then, received SMS updates from Bluedart once the FASTag was shipped

Hope this helps

The answer is easily available. But I didn't need to google since my company did some work involving both active and passive RFIDs and big ugly RFID readers, a decade ago.

Yes, and it's a bother to remember keeping it 'Open'.

Last time I was stateside, I forgot to pop that thing into open position on my rental and ended up paying higher, license plate based toll rates (MA has automated the process, no booths now).

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Hello all,

I have an upcoming trip tomorrow, considering which I ordered a HDFC fastag about 15 days ago. I did receive an email from HDFC with the customer ID and credentials after a few days. However, I have received no communication or the actual fastag since then and the helpline is not really of much help.

I wanted to know if it is possible to get a fastag in person from any of the toll plazas during my journey tomorrow? I am driving to Pondicherry from Bengaluru. Or is it advisable to take the trip without fastag and wait for the delivery of the HDFC tag later?

Thanks in advance.

I was/am also looking for this!
My Fastag was paid for and activated the same day 2nd Dec.
I have received SMSes giving my account number, etc.
No wallet information or dispatch information ever since.

Like you mentioned, their CC number is busy 24x7.
I have also raised a complaint on the portal, but that didn't help either.

Ace.

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

Recently I purchased Fastag via ICICI bank. The experience has been poor since the documentation is vague and their call center numbers dont seem to work. However, trying to google for info, I found this document that might be of use to some of you who have purchased Fastag via ICICI Bank. Hope it helps. Meanwhile, I am yet to sort my registration issue and escalated. In the process I even managed to damage the fastag! Will post any update or learnings as they happen.

Ordered Fast tag via Paytm on 4.12.2019. Sent 3 to 4 messages on the app via 24x7 Help section and made a call to helpline too. Dispatched on 12.12.19. Fast Tag received today. Hope this helps.

Re: FASTag: All you need to know about procuring & using it!

So I somehow managed to end up with two Fast Tags. At first I was not finding the details for the HDFC Fast Tag which was in place on my car and ended up placing a order with Paytm. I later, thanks to this Forum was able to get the Fast tag details from my dealer and was able to update same and get it activated. I had already had called up (useless exercise this was) the Paytm helpline and asked them to cancel the order and they promised to do so by getting in touch with their department but they ended up sending the Fast tag anyways. So now I have two tags for the same car, I hope this will not cause any issues. I have not even opened the Paytm Fast Tag package which incidentally was delayed.
