Regular 10k service, we top-up the coolant with water(not sure of distilled water) 4 litres coolant charged when completely empty.

Due to the leakage we hat to top up with RO tap water when needed. At times it took close to 3litres of water.

Does RO water damage the pipes? Or induce leakage?

At Mahindra service center we had faced issues of mechs toping up with hard tap water

Tap or RO water contributes to mineral sediment deposits in your radiator and pipes and increases the risk of corrosion. Always use distilled water with red coolant concentrate, or use Mahindra’s premixed coolant.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

A strange problem has arisen in my 2012 Scorpio Auto VLX.

When the car first starts moving sometimes, not always, the speedometer climbs to 140 or so, hangs there for a few seconds, and drops back to the right speed. This also happens at random moments at higher speeds, say 60 Kmph. Average is about a couple of times in a half hour trip.

This is accompanied by a low, uneven beeping.

When I took the car for a spin with the service supervisor of the workshop sitting by me, it didn't happen at all over 15 minutes !

The service guys checked everything but couldn't find any problem. They suggested replacing the speedometer, but I didn't think it was worth spending a whole load of money to fix this niggle.

The car runs fine otherwise.

Does anyone know the reason and/or its solution?

Probably a speed sensor in the transmission. Did your tech scan the scorpio ECU for errors before offering to replace the speedometer console?

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

Hello, All -

This is Karthik Dayalan from Chennai, I am a newbie and this is my first post. I own a Mahindra Scorpio S10 2015 model and have clocked 84,000 kms. Today when I tried adjusting the low beam level of my headlight, I noticed that the Gas Strut hood was not functioning. In other words, the gas strut hood was unable to hold the Bonnet and it was automatically closing. Then I had to use a big flat head screw driver to hold it manually and adjust the light beam. Kindly let me know if the gas strut hood is repairable or its better to replace.

Thank you.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

One quick question: Do we have authorized genuine spare parts seller for Mahindra outside of ASS? If yes, how can i locate them.

Something on the lines of Suzuki-Maruti. I know Mahindra has online portal 'm2All' but it would be tedious to procure parts online. One would first need to diagnose the fault and identify the required part and then order the same.

I have the exact same year and model though only 59300 run so far The gas strut issue happened once to me but I can't seem to reproduce it since then. Just go ahead and replace it, it is not that expensive and you don't want a heavy steel bonnet landing on your head.

Sure, there are typically several in each city. As you're in NCR these people have stores in Kashmere Gate as well as Noida / Gurgaon. http://bhargavamotors.com/contact.aspx

Sagar Motors in Gurgaon is probably the biggest authorized spare parts seller for Mahindra. They even supply parts to ASS.
I have bought parts for my 2004 Scorpio, many times from them.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

Got the Driver side window fixed over the weekend at ASS. The part changed was the RH motor.

Surprisingly, this part for Scorpio is costlier than that of XUV. (INR 3813 for Scorpio vs INR 2778 for XUV.).

Any particular reason for the same given the fact that XUV is costlier.

Re: Mahindra Scorpio : Issues & Solutions

I have an 11 year old Scorpio having done 120K kms running without any issues so far. Since I want to keep it for another 3-4 years, I want to ask the experts here if timing belt needs to be changed. I called Sireesh Auto service center and they said it will cost around 15000 to get a new timing belt. My local mechanic is giving a 6000 estimate for the same. Please advise if I need to change the timing belt now (or wait till some signs appear) and where should I get it replaced from?

Thanks in advance

Particle Filter HVAC Compact = AC filter.

Speaking of AC - my Scorpio has had, over the past month or so, very low cooling on the two left AC vents and normal cooling on the vents to the right.

Checking it early this month during my 60k free service suggested the gas was very low, and it was topped up. The problem started to manifest itself again now barely three weeks later, and doing an AC gas recovery + pump air through the system type check, the AC gas had dropped by some 280 grams.

The tech suspects it is a compressor issue, and Mahindra ASS is intent on billing me Rs.30k change for a new compressor (which, to my shock, is the actual cost for a Hella one - I don't remember the earlier compressors by Sanden or Behr costing that much, barely 13-14k).

I'm taking it to a known AC fng to see if they're able to service the compressor instead of replacing it.
