re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

I received a mail form Lathangi regarding the 4th year extended warranty:

"The 3rd year Warranty of your Ford Figo 1.2 will expire on April 2013, Price to extend the warranty for 4th year/1,00,000kms is Rs.5,649/- , and for the same details are mentioned below:"

The list of covered items is compelling to go for it. Wanted a 2nd opinion, has anyone in this forum extended it to the 4th year?

The Special Edition Figo wears a signature badging that has been designed by Figo owners and ace fashion designer duo Shantanu and Nikhil. Other features on seen in the Celebration Edition Figo includes SATNAV, reverse park assist, rear spoiler, limited edition seat covers and branded scuff plates, in addition to the existing range of features in the small car. - See more at: http://www.oncars.in/Car-News-Detail....3GiiI5jj.dpuf
Crap! They are launching the Figo Special edition - talking about things like in-built navigation, upholstery, decals, scuff plates but nothing about the rear power windows! What a let down this will be without those. :(

Ford has launched a celebration edition Figo to celebrate the third anniversary of the car in India.
On the inside, the special edition Figo comes with navigation system, limited edition seat covers and scuff plates. The Figo celebration edition gets special decals on the outside to distinguish it from the other variants. Additional features on the exterior include parking sensors and a rear spoiler.
It is available in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Does it have ABS/Airbags? No question that people might take a fancy to this. However, without safety features, this isn't my car.

Sadly, figo will not have power windows due to a design limitation . The rear arch will interfere with the rear window going down. There is a discussion regarding the quarter panel glass in figo on our forum.

Edit: http://www.carwale.com/ford-cars/fig...ures-2853.html

The above link says it does have ABS/Airbags !

Does the celebration edition come with all the Titanium features (ABS, airbags etc) plus the "special edition" add-ons (sat nav, seat covers, spoiler etc)? 5.16 lakhs seems to indicate otherwise.

No way it can have all the Titanium features and some more on this price. Titanium was 7.16 lakhs OTR in pune in January.

Seriously? Can a car manufacturer really come up with a model with that kind of absurd limitation? Sounds like an interesting thread. Am going to go check it out.

I think the answer to this is alrady present somewhere in the older posts in this thread itself..
figo (india) is based on 2002+ fiesta in europe, that was a 2-door hatch. The addition of the 2 rear doors is an 'afterthought' for indian market. So, yeah, it was never 'design'ed to be a 4-door hatch & hence with an unchanged wheelbase & the coupe-roof, the shape of the rear door had to take a compromise, thus not allowing enough room for the window to completely scroll down.
Again, from a cost-cutting perspective (very important for indian market) , why add power windows to windows that really dont roll down enough ? this seems to be the thought process.

re: Review: 1st-gen Ford Figo (2010)

Now, the pricing of Diesel Celebration model as quoted by Overdrive, Carwale etc is 5.15 lacs Ex Showroom. They are also showing features greater than Titanium. How is it possible. Confused to the core. Any info anyone? Because if that is the case , I am driving off to the showroom right now!

I think Celebration edition comes in all variants too. When it comes to base model, all the features might not be there (May be they will just have the decal). I am not sure, but I really suspect this sort of tactic to draw people to showrooms.
