Oh yes Sir, Chennai has cool Chennai-ites, who are warm to others as the weather is!

Cheers

Those are private hoardings looking inside their premises. BTW, that is the satyam theatre complex.

Raja
They just cruise around clearing roads & generally maintaining smooth flow of traffic.

Well, all show and no go, like one of our esteemed chennai tbhp-ians (hint: he is crazy about cop cars - all 3 of his cars are used by cops) learnt after buying it.

Same as what is called a 'billboard' in the US.

Well, the auto-guys in Chennai are always in race mode - don't matter whether it is Triplicane or Gummidipoondi. But the real races with high stakes happen on the ECR post midnight I hear.

Just to address your home-sickness, here come some pics I took 2 weeks ago. @nick, hope you don't mind my brief encroachment on your thread.

These were taken with my wife's SE phone-cam - so pic quality is just so-so even though it is supposed to be 3.2 MP and all that bull.

1) A view of 'Napier's Bridge' from Island Grounds (Theevu Thidal). This bridge is near Madras University and provides access to the Marina from Chennai Central side. Has figured in Mani Ratnam's movie 'Ayudha Ezhuthu' and am sure in many other movies.

2) A view of the dome of Madras University building - again taken from Island grounds.

3) Some rides at the fair that is currently on at Island Grounds.

4) The go-karting track at Island Grounds.

5) A view of the recently renovated park on Haddows Road. Well maintained, with nice paintings on all walls, a nice walking corridor, couple of shuttle-badminton courts, free yoga, kids play area etc etc. Really nice. With a better camera and at another time of the day, would make for a good photo-shoot.

the traffic jam occurs on the flyover if any moron driving does not know how to read the signs and stick to his lane!

I use it almost 5 times a week and can say that the 45 minutes traffic jam at the junction has reduced to a 40 seconds drive for me!

Tell me about it, Vikram! Yesterday, one such moron was reversing on the Kathipara grade separator because he missed his exit. Thereby causing a mini traffic jam for a few minutes.

The Lucas flyover has similarly saved about 15 minutes on my daily commute time, though its far more dangerous if people dont see the signs properly because its one major aerial round about at this junction.
