Swapnil,

The big exclamation mark is to show you that the phone is connected to the dashcam through app. Recording always happens in the background. You may want to see the files within the folder. They record for every 2 minutes.

All changeable settings can be modified in the English language on iphone app.

I generally don't change any settings. My screen on dashcam is offline within a minute to prevent energy usage. Time settings are sync with Iphone.

For downloads from dashcam, I use android device.

Mi Home app is in Chinese on Andriod. Will take sometime for you to get used to it

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Received my Viofo A119 in 2 weeks flat. Really impressed with Aliexpress and the total was about $90 and I was still not charged any customs duty. It will be installed in my Innova Crysta with the ICE install scheduled this week. I have opted for the CPL but am not sure how useful it will be. Any feedback on the CPL usage with the dash cam?

Cross posting from Accidents in India thread :

The easiest way (to share a video from dashcam) is uploading to YouTube and then sharing the link here

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I came across a product which powers up the dashcam from OBD2 port(Not sure if this is posted here earlier). The interesting part is, it has got an ACC mode or Surveillance mode.

In ACC mode, the dashcam would be powered off after 5 minutes of switching off the car. In Surveillance mode, dashcam is continuously powered until it detects low car battery(11.6V).

I feel this is easier, cheaper, cleaner and perhaps safer solution than tapping into fuse box for hardwiring. Especially useful when you need to get out of the car after locking it but want the dashcams to be running, just flip the switch to surveillance mode and get out.

Are there any concerns in using OBD2 for powering up dashcams? The load is generally under 10W.

Interesting gadget. The key thing is if 11.6 v is enough to start your car. At least 2 reviewers mentioned their cars had starting trouble after using this.

This is something that I could really use; but I have some apprehensions about it.

My concern is that whether OBD port being a diagnostic/configuration tool is actually meant to tap/draw power from it or not.

Since the port is directly linked to control modules of some vehicles, any short circuit due to a low quality product or connected accessory could destroy the control modules. I have a Polo GT and many features of the vehicle are configured using VCDS which connects to OBD.

I was visiting Aliexpress once in a while for last few weeks, but haven't spotted Viofa A119 for less than 100$, I'm saying this with GPS, CPL, and without a memory card.
Since you have procured recently can you share the link / seller?

Cheers!

CPL - https://banggood.app.link/fXe01Kl9aK

I remember getting it for $67 during one of their flash sales.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

I have already installed a Yi Smart Dashcam on my wind shield. I plan to add one at the back.
Keeping in mind that it will block rear visibility, which one would be suggested?

Thanks!
The SJcam can be used as a dashcam, it has a specific Car mode to be used as one. I recently purchased a SJ6 legend, works great as a dashcam. However, I don't prefer using it as a dashcam as it has a lithium-ion battery and my car gets parked under direct sunlight at times.

The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Any idea where I can get this dashcam in India?
It's a genuine accessory for the Fortuner in Thailand. Checked with the dealership guys they don't have it.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Had got myself a viofo a119s v2 from aliexpress with the cpl filter and gps mount. Had to pay Rs.1200 as customs :(

Ah well.

Glad i got the cam. Lovely videos both during the day and at night as well. And it is very unobtrusive compared to my previous g1w. {obviously}

Well, I still hold the record of paying Rs. 1600 for customs for the viofo. I like the image quality. I've hidden most of the wiring.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Has anyone come across a brand called GoNoise? https://www.gonoise.com/pages/noise-play-action-camera

Any help would be great. I intend to use it as a DashCam as my Blaupunkt is throwing errors every now and then.
