It looks like the Swiss Knife of rear-view mirrors! Maybe you are made for each other!

Perhaps I'm old-fashioned, but I prefer to keep the RVM clear for its intended purpose. I'll take a look at the dashboard product mentioned by Styler.

I've realised that, several times, I have responded to posts on this thread with an enthusiastic "Oh wow, must buy this one!" And I still don't have one at all. One day...

I want a cheap no nonsense chinese one which will pretty much do the job. This all on one HUD style thing looks good, still find the price a bit on the expensive side however.

Is that price of close to 10k about right for something like this?

This is fantastic. Being so feature rich and packed to the brim, its a keeper.

Putting all these into RVM is just little bit of distraction. If I can just move my eyeball while driving and it helps me to not mess up, then its job well done.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Is there anyone using the Blueskysea Car WIFI DVR B1W dashcam from AliExpress?

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Blue...ceBeautifyAB=0

I am looking for a basic dashcam which can do its job (1080p @ 30fps at least) and can withstand the scorching heat inside the cabin when parked in hot sun.

I had a dashcam bought from Belgium and it couldn't withstand the heat - went kaput in three months.

Isn't Xiaomi 70 Minutes Smart WiFi Car DVR @US$ 40 better than this?

Isn't the Yi Smart dash cam better than this?
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/YI-S...999.263.39HmXt

I am eyeing this and is planning to pick this up in the upcoming sale - this costs around 4K INR.

Thanks mukeshgoel & theexperthand for the links. In fact, I came across this model too, but these are battery based and I was looking for one with Super capacitor. Sorry I missed to mention that in my earlier post!

Thank you, that is worth considering.

I hope there are few who are using Yi cam here - can you guys please share your experience? Is it worth investing, or should I look for a different model with super capacitor?

Will the Yi cam work if I remove the battery and power it via 12v socket?

Yes, I am only looking at super capacitor equipped ones, especially after losing INR 6k on a dashcam within three months.

It should work when powered by the cable. The battery is usually for recording segments when the car is parked. My dashcam's battery went kaput within a month. Then it continued to function without the battery but only when the car's ignition was on.

Just last month I got one. Though it's working fine, but i didn't feel any difference from my existing one based on G1W. First issue was, it was not working with SanDisk card(they're not suggesting this) , which was working fine with older G1W. So I bought Samsung Evo plus 64gb. Even with this, camera gets restarted very often and starts recording itself. So I reduced to 720p, after that it was fine. but my commute so far is maximum of 30 minutes. Next month I will be testing it for longer drive.

I have been using a G1W-C Full HD 1080P Capacitor Model for about a year and half now. I have not hard wired it. It comes with a fairly long cable which can be routed through the A-pillar and connected to the cigarette lighter socket. It should be about 50 USD at Ali Express for the camera.

I use it with a 64 GB SanDisk Extreme PRO microSDXC Memory Card. The prices for this fluctuates. I picked one for about 30 USD.

It switches on when the car is started and turns off when the car is switched off. It completes the last portion of the data write before it shuts off.

I have found the suction mount that comes with it to be good and does not fall off. One point to note is that I do not generally park my car exposed to the direct sun for too long.

Dash cam for Mercedes Benz GLE 250d

I am looking for a dash cam for my GLE 250 which is discreet and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. (Dash cams must be made a mandatory feature in vehicles, particularly given the lack of investigative capability or inclination among our law enforcers, about the true cause of an accident-resulting in the party with 'capacity to pay' or influence, being obliged to the extent possible.)

I saw the following models on AliExpress made by these manufacturers:
BigBigRoad and Sinairyu and Liislee

Has anyone any experience about the product and quality?Reliability?

Secondly, any issue with hard wiring of dash cams? From insurance or safety angle?

Check out Waylens Secure360 or Waylens Horizon. They're sleek and quite discreet. Especially the latter. Another discreet solution is the BlackVue series. I'm running a DR500GW-HD and a DR650S-2CH - both are performing well. The former has stood the test of time since it's almost 5 years old and has withstood severe summers and open parking spaces in the hot sun.

You can go back a few pages to see the experiences with various other dashcams.

I would pick a model with Super Capacitor and large field of view, and not try to cut corners with the optics and chipset.

My preference would be for a hardwired setup - provided proper fuse taps are used. However, if warranty is a concern, the standard 12V socket can work just fine.

Well, it had to stop somewhere. Frankly, I just could not get interested in the small details for comparison and putting off the decision: I ordered a Viofo from AliExpress.

VIOFO Car DVRs A119S Upgraded V2 US$15; just over 7k Rs.

I hope to fit and forget. Certainly hope that I'll never need it "in anger."

Ahem, I mean find someone else to fit!

Lol. I was in the same boat. Had seen your previous post too! Well it was the final nail in coffin. Ordering A119S right away!
