Not really Mr.Boss!

Just wait for a couple of days, the customs will forward it in the supply chain. It could be due to weekend having made its way in. Coming from Hong Kong, I do not see much of an issue. Such overseas shipments at times take longer for they need to stand compliant with the stringent impex policies in India. Thanks.

I have ordered and received a Viofo A119 with a hard wire kit. If I hardwire my dash cam to a "always-on" fuse, can I still stop the dashcam from recording while the car is stationary? Any options in user menu etc. I guess I could simply "unpulg" the usb cable from the dashcam, but that will be an extra thing to remember

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Any idea where Dashcams can be repaired?
I had a DOD LS 400W and suddenly it stopped working 3 months ago. I had got a New Thinkware F770, so did not worry about it much. I now want to get it repaired and put it in my wife's Alto

Check with sdp1975 as he recently got his Blaupunkt Dashcam repaired in Bangalore.

Hemanth

I have been looking at various dash cams off-late and really like the Thinkware F770; it looks elegant and should fit neatly near the RVM. I have an Honda 2006 ivtec; would you know how easy / difficult would it be to have a Thinkware F770 mounted in it?

Can you give details on where you bought it from, price, your views about the product's utility? I was also contemplating the Garmin 55; but that seems to be quite expensive.

I have a mate who is returning from UAE, do you reckon buying it from Middle East is an option worth taking?

Many thanks

Here's a link to an article that I read recently, reviewing some newer, multi functional models. Thought of sharing it here, just in case it's useful to members.

I missed this. Its a detailed write up. Did you do the installation all by yourself?

One query:
# 2 - do you mean to say, if I am going on a 2 hour drive; will I get 120 (1 mins individual segments) recording!?

I'm not that good at DIYs and that's why I don't usually risk doing it.
But the Rear camera to front camera wiring under the roof lining is a very easy thing to do and I did that. But the hardwiring of the front camera, I've not done. I'm using the 12v cigarette lighter point for powering the cam right now. I do have teh hardwiring kit and will get it done by an accessory guy whenever I have time. Not an urgent thing for me.

Yes. and in this case 240 (120 from front camera and 120 from the rear camera). Usually other dashcams allow the user to change this duration (1,3,5 or 10 min). Here users don't have that freedom. Segments are good for data integrity, but 1min is too less IMO. From my experience with my past dashcam, 3mins is the best segment duration.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Thanks for your prompt reply Hemanth.

I recently did a drive from Chikamanglur to Mumbai very early in the morning and really missed having a Dash Cam that would record the awesome footage (video) driving through the mist and fog around those mountains.

I also saw a few (very 3 dozen) bikers with camera's on their helmets, I assume it is meant to record the journey (video) over longer duration.

Maybe I got it completely wrong, but I go on this trip on and off; the sole purpose of having a dash cam is to record my trips to places which can be stored in memory (HDD). So such short compilations (60 secs or 180 secs) seem very very minuscule.

Adding myself to the list. My dash cam works, however the charger isn't working. I have ordered a replacement from aliexpress and it's taking it's own sweet time since it's a low $ order. If I can get the original charger repaired or replaced, will help a lot.

You could turn on/off motion-detect from the menu and turn the camera off but that could get cumbersome. Simplest would be unplugging the USB cable.

If a BDP device like the Vico Power Plus is used, there's is a on/off button on the kit.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Just received my Viofo A119 ordered from ALiexpress. Is there any way to verify authenticity/originality of the product?

There don't seem to be any fakes yet. Just to be doubly sure you could compare the firmware version that came installed with the ones available from VIOFO.

The start-up logo would also differ if it's a fake.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi,

I am planning to get this from Switzerland.

http://www.braun-phototechnik.eu/en/...VR-SYSTEM.html

Is anyone using this here, for a landing price of around 6000, it seems like a fair deal.
