Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

A query to all Yi Dashcam owners.

The swivel support for the dashcam in my car has a play causing the dashcam sometimes to move and lose the focus on the road. This generally happens on rough roads and over mountainous speed breakers. The swivel is already full tightened and does not have any scope more. I have removed the dashcam unit completely on more than one occasion and reinstalled it but the play comes into effect within a month or so.

Any owner facing this issue? Any solution to this?

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Anyone have any idea how good Philips dash cams are ? A friend had a Philips CVR108 that is available at INR 5.5k - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Orig...826461614.html

It is a very compact unit and online reviews are pretty good. My apprehensions are this looks like it has a lithium ion battery (not a capacitor) and power is only via 12V.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Hi
I had ordered Xiaomi Miija DVR from aliexpress and it has arrived. Planning to install it in my Fortuner. Need some suggestions from experts for installation

1. Which installation is better
A. Do the cabling such that the USB port is inserted into cigarette lighter socket and visible near the cigarette lighter socket
B. Do the internal wiring by cutting the USB cable and connecting the leads to some electrical nodes without affecting the other electricals so that nothing is visible on the dashboard

2. I stay in J P Nagar and planning to get the installation done by car accessory shop. Junction Car Accessories is very near to my home. how is the workman ship in this shop? Does he do the job professionally?

Please suggest if anyone has experience with this shop

Thanks for the suggestion Suresh!

Placed an order for Blueskysea B1W dashcam with hardwire kit today.

You can also try at 'Konark' near Jayanagar East End. They have electricians who do the job in front of their premises.

If this is a screw type tightening, try a little teflon tape to make the screw threads more snug.
Or else buy just a holder alone from Ali express - these are usually cheap.

It is not a screw type type but a swivel nut type hence teflon would not work here I guess.

The issue is the mounting holder is one piece and has been pasted to the windscreen with the 3M sticker, so removing it will be a pain. Will need to see alternate methods.

I had done SJCAM installation in my friend's Fortuner.

In case you need help with installation PM me, I can help you out. Wires can be concealed properly to the max extent that is possible. However, in case you are looking for hardwiring, then its better to take it to any accessory store.

You will need to come down to Whitefield, on a holiday. Installation will be for Free of charge of course.

cheers,

Thank you very much for offering this help Narayan. I have tried myself on Saturday and did the wiring (Not hard wiring, but with neat wire concealing and connecting to cigarette lighter with the help of usb car charger)

We shall definitely meet some time later

Thanks again for the support extended.

Hi, did you eventually receive the Garmin 55? Would you mind providing your thoughts on it and whether you recommend it? Thanks so much.

Dual camera+parking mode+reasonable price is a hard to achieve combination. One that I have found is Zibuyu. Reliability and actual quality is unclear though.

Two others with parking mode that can be used at the front and back separately (and reasonably priced) are:

ddpai mini2

Blueskysea B1W

The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread-imageuploadedbyteambhp1538626560.754294.jpg

Got the cam installed with temporary wiring into cigrette lighter slot. Seems to be not recording I'll have to mess around with settings and see what's going on.

-Hello, can you please tell me whether it has a parking function?.. Recording while the vehicle is off and parked. Is the parking function supposed to be turned on every time you park or once only?

I will tell how it works in my DVR. It should be the same in your case as well. Experts can correct if I am wrong

In my DVR, If you do the wiring to the device such that it is always turned ON irrespective of whether ignition key is present or NOT, then, it will continuously record. This is parking function. To do this, connect such that the DVR draws power from the battery directly through current limiter in the circuit, NOT to the points which works only when the key is in ACC OR ON position.

If you connect to those points (say, ICE HU power points)then, the device will not get the power when Ignition is OFF or taken out and hence, device will be turned off once you remove the ignition key. Then parking function wont work.

Re: The Dashcam / Car Video Recorder (DVR) Thread

Thanks. But Parking function is supposed to get activated when G sensor detects some disturbance with the parked vehicle and then it starts recording. Do this Xiomi 70mai English version has this function?
