Try your mobile dealer. My dealer (CELLNET based in Colaba) usually equips me with all cell accessories.

Hmmm... lots of action in TBHP today about ICE installers in Kochi.

I'd vouch for Zuheimi's (Emperor) work any day. The guy knows what he's doing, and he has oodles of experience with nearly every car on the street. He knows what will work and what won't. And he thinks out-of-the-box, unlike most other installers. And his dedication to detail, and the quality of his work is exceptional.

Did you buy this with bill/warranty? Contact Bharat Accessories (JBL dealer in Pune). Search this thread for numbers. Or may be Sam has already replied to you?

Spadival,
If you subscribe to Autocar you should find the contact number of Bharat Car accessories on the back cover of the magazine.

I am looking for a HU with 4 or 5 preouts for my 5 channel amp and have shortlisted a couple of cheap ones - Pioneer DEH-P4800MP (6k in UK) and Blaupunkt Calgary MP35 (4.3k in UK).

1. Any opinion on these?
2. Are you folks aware of better and cheaper alternatives available locally?
3. Can anyone recommend a quality installer in Mumbai? Hv searched the thread and found dated references to Surja and Car Touch.

for a 5 channel amp you will need 5 or 6 pre outs. that means 2 preouts for the front (left and right), 2 for the rear and either one or 2 for the sub (mono or stereo).

yes, 5-6 pre-outs are ideal but the alpine multi-channel can pull the bass information from 4 FR preouts (based on xover settings) to drive the sub.

Any recommendations on cheap HUs that can serve as a clean pre-amp?

Not really. Most such amps also have a remote bass knob that is used to control the sub channels level.

You're right. It's a trade-off between control and quality, assuming, as I am here, that amp's crossover circuitry is superior to my target HUs.

I'm indifferent about controlling sub level once it's set, and instead wish to invest in quality installation and accurate speakers.

Any recommendation for HUs, guys?
