Re: The iPhone Thread

If anyone is looking to get the battery replaced of their out of warranty iPhone, iPad or Mac from Apple, get it done before March 2023 as Apple is going to increase the price:

I am assuming it to be a glitch or something. Everything else works fine.

Another strange thing was it was not showing as plugged in (hence stopped at 50 % charging at night), so I unplugged and replugged in morning and then the above situation happens. Oh well, let me observe it for couple of days, no more experimenting for couple of days.

Regarding background refresh it still show apps doing it, even though switched off.

Happy new year everyone.

My iphone 12 pro max battery health has fallen to 88% in 2 years since Jan 2021.

I think this is normal. Any thoughts?

I also will wait for iPhone 15 Pro Max with the 48 or more mp camera and the type C USB charger port.

Till then, the 12 Pro Max and 13 Mini will serve me nicely.

I should panic. But, I am not as I plan to upgrade to a 15 Promax next year.

I think it may drop to 82% by next October and I will trade it for $300 (I am sure that will be the value for it by next October ) for new iPhone.
Mines at 92% indicated (88% actual) after 15 months and nearly 500 cycles. I’d say the 13’s batteries are much better built than the 12’s were. 12 Pro Max battery deteriorated much, much faster, with the exact same cycles on it.

Age is immaterial, battery degradation is mainly caused by the number of charge-discharge cycles you put on it, according to Apple anything over 80% health at 500 cycles is normal.

Re: The iPhone Thread

How do we check the battery cycle count in iPhone 12? Under analytics don’t see the log-aggregated file. Is it a different filename?

Mine has reduced to 87% in 15 months (purchased in Oct,2021) and I see these days it’s draining out a little faster than I would like. SOT for my usage is usually 3.5-4hrs(youtube/reddit/safari/FB/insta mostly).

Re: The iPhone Thread

3 months and my battery health is already down to 97%. I charge once a day and mostly charge from 40% to 90% and very rarely hit 100%.

https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/b68...727234ad458094

Use this shortcut to get real time battery capacity specs for iOS16. How much it shipped with (varies slightly for every device) and how much is left.

If you want to search manually, open the Analytics-YY/MM/DD file in the same area you earlier had the log aggregated file.

If you want more info-

That’s rough, mine took 7 months/220 cycles to drop to 99% from 100%. Side note: instead of 40-90 do 30-80 as once you cross 80% soc the battery degradation is faster but anyway your health shouldn’t be falling this fast. If it drops below 80 under warranty they’ll replace the battery for free.

6 months ago I was quoted 4500 and 5500 by two apple authorised service centres for the 13 pro max battery, I think Imagine was the more expensive one but don’t remember exactly. No idea if the new increases will translate the same way in our market.

https://www.gadgets360.com/mobiles/n...home-ndtv_tech

As per this article, battery replacements on the iPhone are gonna get costlier from March.
Does apple India provide these replacements at similar costs as mentioned in the article?

I have an iPhone 7 which I use sometimes as my spare phone, which apple center in Mumbai can I take it to for a battery replacement and how much would I have to spend? (Its 4000rs inr in USA as per the article)

My battery health is at 73% now, so perhaps a good idea to change it.

Cost- Rs. 3600/-
Any Apple authorised center will replace it- given that your iPhone is not jailbroken & it has not been repaired anywhere but Apple.

Ah I see. Just turned it on. Hopefully by tomorrow it should start updating?

BTW needed to change my wife's iphone X battery(now at 77%) and when enquired in AppleCare nearby they said it would cost 8500INR
Is it that expensive? I was thinking its under 5-6k but 8.5k sound pretty steep.

Yes it will update in 24 hours.

I was quoted 4500 and 5500 by two Apple service centres for my 13 pro max a few months ago, X has a much smaller battery so it should be the same or cheaper. I will add that there’s no standardisation and authorised service centres seem to quote different numbers depending on whom you ask.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Whatsapp chat backup isn't happening in my iPhone 13. It's stuck on this screen and doesn't move forward. Have tried several times. What's the solution? Icloud still has more than 25gb space. Have tried both on Wi-Fi and 5g.
