This was one of the security features in case you lose your phone and someone tries to switch it off.
That setting does not matter anymore as your iPhone is trackable even after it is shutdown. I tried to take a screenshot from my phone but could not so here is a screenshot from the web.

The picture is self explanatory.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Exchanged my four year old 11 for the 15. There was no problem with my old phone except for the battery: I got barely 3-4 hours of charge with heavy use (social media, Teams, maps) so felt it was time to get a new phone vs. spending 7-8k on a new battery and changing the phone next year anyway.

From a 11 to 15, not a lot of perceptible changes from a capability / functionality standpoint, except 5G which Vodafone doesn't offer yet anyway.

Some observations based on my experience:

1) Apple website offers the best trade-in for your old phone, better than physical Apple stores, or Cashify

2) Considering the new phones have Type-C ports, and the charging cable that you get in the box is Type-C on both ends, you're going to need a new adapter

Buy it on Amazon/Croma; the original Apple 20W Type-C charger is 1900 on Apple's website, while 1579 on Amazon/Croma

3) The trade-in was seamless: the Bluedart guy checked the physical condition and ran the Diagnostic test (inbuilt with iPhone, nothing external) to complete the assessment

4) The cameras on the 15 series protrude significantly more than the older phones; so a back cover might be necessary

Why do you need a new adaptor? The apple 20W charger comes with C port on charger side isnt it? My Iphone 14 inbuilt cable is one side C (where its plugged to Charger) and other side is lightning port.

You don't get an adapter with the new phone since YEARS.

My 11 got a USB-A charger and the wire was USB-A to lightning; while the 15 comes with a cable that has Type-C on both ends. So, either I'd have to get a new adapter that was Type-C, or a new wire that was USB-A to Type-C.

Just for laughs: Wife has a 13, which came with a Type-C to Lightning cable. No adapter, we had to buy an adapter that was Type-C.

So, while Apple has discontinued the adapter in the box in the name of sustainability, it has made a whole bunch of cables and adapters obsolete by changing the cable / port / adapter ports in the past few years.

I am aware that we dont get the adapter with the iPhone.

What i meant is that since you already had iPhone 11, the same adapter can be used for iPhone 15.

No, like Libran mentioned the 11 series had USB-A to lightening cable, and from 12 onwards they moved to USB-C to lightening. So he definitely need a new charging brick or share the one his wife use for the 13

Would not recommend this as you'd have insanely slow charging speeds. The standard USB C adaptor charging speeds are not super fast anyway, but USB A would require a lot of P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E!

Re: The iPhone Thread

Planning to pick iPhone 15 or 15 Plus in the coming BB Sales. This will be my re-entry to the iPhone world after a long hiatus. I was the early adopter of the same - had the first iPhone (2G) in 2007, then a couple of more after which I moved to the Android world.

Reason: Buttery fingers.

Somehow I end up dropping my phones a few times a year from good heights. I had dropped my iPhone 2G from the height of 4 floors and it still was working

I ensure to buy good build quality phones (LG or Motorola) and pay a premium for the same by picking up their top (1st or 2nd) of the line phones. This allows me to keep the phone for longer time - 4-5 years, before switching to another one.

Hence this query: What good case and screen protector can I get? Which one is recommended? Asking this because I see Apple recommended products for the same but they cost a bit. Won't mind paying provided they do have good advantage in quality over many others available in the market at lesser cost.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The Ultra Hybrid variants of Spigen are really good and offer good protection while making the phone not very bulky. You can choose some designs and colours as per your choice. There are some cases which are MagSafe compatible and you can have a look at them if you’re interested.

Please avoid silicon cases or any case which is generally very soft as this will give minimal protection and the case colour fades out too.

You can also look at some cases from Otterbox and Urban Armor Gear but these are a bit costly and make the phone very bulky.
Additionally, for screen protector POPIO Tempered glass has good ratings on Amazon and you can buy the same or purchase from a shop in your locality.

Try the screen protector from Spigen too. Pretty durable and scratch resistant. I am using one on my 12 Pro for past 2.5 years. I had got a pack of 2, the 2nd one is still left unused.

They also come with a template to help you paste is accurately on the screen.

I do not exactly recollect which screen protector I have on my 13 Pro Max. Had bought the screen protector from the Aptronix Store so don't remember the brand. It is now 2 years old and just like yours is scratch free. I have dropped my phone around 10 times in all these years but and thus has got a bit broken at sides but nothing much to worry about.

Will definitely try that once I plan to replace the existing one.

Please mention the exact deal you received. Buddy of mine is also looking to get the 15 in exchange of his iphone 12.

Do we have to trade in at the same time of receiving the new phone? Asking because iphone to iphone data transfer is much easier but takes some time.

You don’t necessarily need both the phones side-by-side. You can upload the data on iCloud - Log out of Apple id - Reset - Log-in to your new iPhone with thr same Apple id and you should have everything there.

I generally follow this for iPhone transfers & it works seamlessly. Moreover, you don’t need to purchase the higher tiers of iCloud for this. Apple gives you an option of free unlimited iCloud storage for the transfer.

Check the exact trade-in value here: https://www.apple.com/in/shop/buy-iphone

It'll depend on the model he's buying, and the model he's trading-in.

Yes, the same Bluedart guy who delivers the phone takes it back (does factory reset in front of you and packs the phone).

For what it's worth: when the new iPhone is dispatched, Apple allows unlimited space on iCloud for back up of the old phone. You'll see the prompt come up when you open Settings on iPhone. This could be an option as well.
