This has always been the trend. Apple discontinues the Pro versions, while retaining the vanilla variants over 2 generations older.

Apart from the C port, there’s also the ‘dynamic island’ which can be a major differentiator between the 13’s & 14’s from the 15! Not to forget a newer chip & improved RAM. And most importantly, the additional 2 (or maybe even 3) iOS updates over the 13 atleast.

13 will be retained. 12 will most likely see an end of life.

Re: The iPhone Thread

No. In fact the 14 range gets a new lease of life as they're introducing C type in that as well

What was the actual MRP of the iPhone 13 when you bought it?
I think it was between 62k and 65k. MRP on the box is 69900/-

Re: The iPhone Thread

Need some info - My 3 year old iPhone 11 suddenly switched off and wont turn on. Tried all tricks from google however it was stubborn. Went to the iphone store in Jayanagar 2nd block and gave for review. They are charging 2.5k for review and if battery to be replaced they are quoting 9.5k. Hugely exorbitant. Any pointers how this can be done economically?

Re: The iPhone Thread

Bought an iPhone 14 128 GB in the Blue shade yesterday. Final price of the phone came to around 65.5k (yet to receive 4k cashback for using the HDFC card). Got value of 22k for my wife's iPhone 11 128 GB & 19k for my iPhone 11 64 GB. Only had to pay 24.5k as effective price for my 14 after the trade-in ! They gave a good deal with the tempered glass + phone cover so didn't order the Spigen case this time. They also bundled in a USB-C 20W adapter for an additional amount of 400 bucks as part of the deal !

Visit an ifix store. They have good reviews. I got an iPad battery replacement done within a few hours there.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Is there any other shop or online site - that gives better sale value for the iphones - as compared to "Exchange" Price - in amazon or flipkart - while buying a new one? Sometimes the exchange price indicated is too low. Mine is an SE 2nd edition.

Thanks.

iPhone 13-128 GB is going for ~60k currently on both Amazon & Flipkart. If you have HDFC card, further 2k discount or 5% cashback with Amazon ICICI card & Flipkart Axis card. So effectively ~58k.

14-128GB is currently retailing at ~68k and further 4k discount with HDFC card making it ~64k. So yeah in today's date going for 14 makes better sense as its just 6k more for a newer version.

But if you can wait for 2 months, once 15 releases, expect these to go down by further 5-8k getting iphone 14 to <60k.

About discontinuation, iphone 12 along with 14 pro will be discontinued as has been the trend in every release. Vanilla 13 & 14 would continue, not sure about the plus, but that probably will stay as well.

I have got better resale in cashify. But that was for android. Am sure things won't be different for iphones.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Has anyone observed a sudden and drastic drop in the battery life of AirPods (gen 2) when connected to an iPhone? I use the regularly with my iPhone 11 and iPad Air (2013 model) regularly and for some reason, they barely last 30-45min when used with the iPhone (battery indicator says out of charge) but when connected to the iPad, they show the right battery strength and even last at least 1.5 - 2 hours.

A friend with the same gen of AirPods bought around the same time observed similar behavior. Is this Apple throttling the battery / performance of the AirPods as well?

Re: The iPhone Thread

How long does a battery replacement usually take ? I’m planning to walk in to imagine at forum mall. If it’s a few hours it’s not a problem but if it runs into more than a day it’s an issue as I don’t have a spare phone.

If they have the battery in stock and you have a prior appointment, typically 4-5 hours. They usually return the phone the same day. They generally insist on factory resetting the phone btw (to delete all personal data).

Re: The iPhone Thread

Changed the battery on my 3 year old SE 2 today at iPlanet, Meenakshi mall. Cost was 6450/-. This was the nearest service centre to my home and I walked in at around noon without any prior appointment. The replacement, payment etc was all done by 1-45pm.

Battery health is at 100% now. Overall satisfied with the service although I wish apple had kept the battery replacement costs reasonable. The idea is to push people into buying new phones instead of replacing batteries by keeping the battery cost high.

Hoping that the new battery lasts another 3 years as the previous one did .

Please don't keep high hopes post the battery replacement. If you're expecting for it to revert to the levels of the original phone like how it was on Day 1, than I'm afraid you'll be disappointed.

I too had replaced the battery of my iPhone 7 and the performance gain was just about OK. The battery health fell to nearly 85% in just about a year of replacement. Also, the battery charge holding capacity too wasn't all that great as it was earlier. Only gain is that the phone performs well, i.e. it sort of regains it's fluidity and the throttling is near zero IMO. But again, this will last for a good 1 year max. however, it is possible that the SE 2 might perform better than the iPhone 7 given that its' a newer generation with better specs, etc.

Would love to hear about your experience on this, in the coming days.

Re: The iPhone Thread

I plan to pick up the iphone 14 pro max or pro model towards the end of the month (after the 15 launch), via a friend travelling to Canada. Any ideas about approximate pricing when new models launch & what would be the best place to buy from? Thanks!
