Exactly. Also the SE2 which would be based on iphone 7 might not have water resistance and would launch at a price that would be closer to the 7. SE would still make a lot of sense. It still has at least 2 years.

That's because people here buy an iPhone for snob value more than utility (as is evident from the plethora of "Apple logo cutout" cases available in the market - something I loathe). Apparently, the SE doesn't look as "cool" as a 6 or later iPhone (as told to me by people in the market for an iPhone). That the SE is much better in terms of hardware compared to a 6 at a similar price point gives their heads a miss. Well, to each their own.

Proud SE owner here.

In my opinion, at the current price levels, SE is the iphone to get if you are not bothered by the screen size. If screen size is a consideration, iPhone 7 with all the offers on Amazon should be the way to go. 6 is past its use by date and is on its last software update. 6S and SE will lose Apple updates next year and as we all know the last update for any iPhone is as bad as it gets.

Rumour has it that SE 2 will not have the same pricing as the existing model at the start of its Life Cycle. SE 2 will have the premium iPhone X design but with an LCD instead of OLED. It might be priced at par with the existing iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 will be the lowest supported model (at a lower price point). They will drop the 7 series, 6S series and the existing SE from the line up. iPhone X will be replaced by X2 (or some such name) and and X2 Plus. All new phones will have Face ID and no home button. They will drop X from the line up and not continue it at a reduced price.

Cannot agree more.

And to add to that, the recent trend of bezel less phones goes against the SE in a big way.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Recently got a iPhone X for my wife; she had been an iPhone devotee from the 3GS days and had moved to a Note 8 in last December after getting bored off iOS. In a few months she got into this 'I miss my iPhone' mode and so when my contract was due early this month, I traded in my crappy LG V20 for the X. But the twist in the story was, after 2 weeks or so with the X she was like "Note 8 is far better". And I kind of agree with her; the Note 8 with almost half the price of the X is a wonderful device. This kind of shows that Apple need to do some kind of makeover to keep the loyalists to stay loyal. So now that she is back to the Note 8, I am with two iPhones - the X and my office iPhone 7.

Coming to the X - I personally feel its really a super-convenient phone. The Face ID implementation is just brilliant and I was one of the early doubters about missing Home button, but with just a week of usage I find the swipe actions of the X so easy to live with, and now finding the 7 quite primitive to use.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Has anyone got his iP6 screen replaced in Pune? After countless “falling from hand” episodes, I have finally managed to crack the screen

Strictly looking for some after market fix as investing in original screen doesn’t seems wise.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Just got an iPhone 8, 64 GB through Airtel a couple of days back. I had to pay 7500 upfront and there is 2500 plan for 2 years. I kind of consider it as 2000 Rs interest free emi for 2 years considering my current plan with Airtel is 500 Rs.

It replaces my 3.5 year old iPhone 6, 64 GB. Sold the iPhone 6 for 10K. I was also confused between the X and the 8, and somehow couldn't get myself to spend up to the X. Overall pretty happy with the iPhone 8. The performance, the battery backup, camera all seem to be good upgrades.

It took airtel 5 days from order to delivering the iPhone at my place. Their tracking system could use some improvements though, as there was no clear indications on what was the current status of my order.

CHEERS!!

Is the plan for 2 years? Because that would mean the iPhone 8 is only for 37500rs with free airtel connection for 2 years!

How is that? Over two years, it's going to cost him 55500 (2000*24+7500) standalone or 67500 (2500*24+7500) with the 500/month service plan included.

Old phone sale irrelevant to the calculation.

Re: The iPhone Thread

Is GST applicable on the 2500 plan? That would make the overall cost much higher.

I would think so Yes. Yet to get the first bill, but I am expecting a couple of hundred Rupees extra in taxes.

Rachit
Taxes are ₹450
2500 +18%GST=2950 per month

Re: The iPhone Thread

Got the X a couple days back. Upgraded to iOS 11.3 earlier today.

Only a minor problem observed - I have lost a few saved contacts. Only their numbers are showing.

Other than that, everything else seems stable.
