SATGUIDE MAPS
Hi!!
@ sachinj12

I also would like to reload some other maps and will try to find out if it can be done.

Just returned from a round trip PUNE-vengurla -GOA-MALVAN-PUNE.

As mentioned, I could not find Vengurla so punched in Belgaum instead.
Along the road I got the NH4 as SH 18 untill Maharastra border and SH 21 as soon as i entered Karnatak.I was always prompted to enter the towns of satara, Karad Kolhapur instead of taking the Bypass.

But one thing I must admit , The Satguide 4.3 Navi always showed a road map for any interior location of Konkan and even had the names of the roads right. But since the list of locations is strictly average one cannot get driving directions.
Secondly the Satguide team need to do a reworking and a lot of tuning to the maps . They have the maps but not enough locations . The Maps are useless for intra-city/ Intra town travel.

Cheers.

^^^
From where to Guwahati? Salonibari?

Waze is essentially the navigation engine, using crowdsourced maps. Which maps in this case?

Couldn't agree more. I am just back home from Bangalore-Hubli-Bangalore.The maps are dated, one ways and fly overs are not updated. Most of the time the guide was suggesting a different route. One thing the map got right was the estimated time of arrival.

Re: The GPS/Maps Discussion Thread (Dedicated Satnav, Smartphones, Tablets, etc)

yes, I have. I am using it on my zumo while my 60 Csx still has MMI. In terms of POI, city Nav 2011.3 is good inside cities. But is you took a town MMI POI are lot better. Besides, when it comes to road network, city Nav 2011.3 is still awfully bad outside city limits. Looks like city nav is only for Navigation inside cities...

Is there a way to connect mapmyindia road pilot to car speakers through my head unit, alpine 9887? Alpine 9887 does not have Aux input on the panel.

Same here! At last one sane comment compared to the many over the board fanboy praises of MMI.

I use MMI RoadPilot and I think it has a quiet poorly designed UI made by an inexperienced or not a very saavy bunch of designer(s)/developers. I too research my route on google maps then try to locate the route on MMI. Not that Google maps is perfect - try re-routing a route using drag and drop, it sucks big time!

But looking at the other unhappy comments about satguide, it appears to be somewhat better than its rival in coverage.

Google maps is the best. I have been using mapmyindia on my Android phone and it is good only for famous highways and city roads. Many a times it keeps asking me to take u turn Also the UI or searching for POI is like Geocities style.

Mods: If this is a wrong thread, request you to move this to the right thread.

Hi all,

I am trying to get hold of a good GPS device and stumbled upon this ad in ebay for INR 8499 + 100 Shipping Charges.

Could anyone through some light around this & if this indeed a best option to buy?

Also - when they say pre-loaded maps, does it mean it will have their recent map updates?
