My 16GB strontium failed within a month and service center experience was no good. I learnt the hard way to have proper backups of these things :-( Later replaced with a Samsung made which is running fine till date. Now I've Dropbox sync enabled for almost all important data on my Note 2. A humble suggestion from experience :-)

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

I am facing a problem with connecting my HTC One V to computer via USB cable - Whenever I try to connect the phone via USB with computer, I get this error message "USB device not recognized". I tried connecting on different computers but get this same message. However the phone starts charging.

Even if by chance it gets connected and if phone is moved even a little than it gets disconnected and same message reappears.

I am facing this probelm from long time now. What could be the problem?

USB cable problem, may be ? or problem with your device charging point.

Mine is working fine, no issues as such.

This is a problem with the data cable. The same problem happened with my Nokia C7-00 too. Replaced the cable and worked fine. Check this. If replacing cable doesn't work, could be a problem with the mini USB port on the phone.

Yup you are right. It's working fine with the cable of my other phone.

I was wondering if that was some hardware problem.

Problem solved. Thanks.

Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods-capture.jpg

Here's what I wanted to say:

Thanks a lot for your active help offer !!! Unfortunately, I was very restless to get the phone fixed and hence took it to a Samsung SC. They charged me INR 170 and installed the stock GB on the phone. May be next time when I mess up any of the Androids at home, will surely contact you for help !!!

Yes, I am from BBSR.
Bengali, settled in Odisha since 2 generations. Any connections on your side ?

Cheers,
Soumyajit

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Is there a contact app or dialer with lock (password or number locked). Kids using phones and accidentally calling someone is the issue.
Or do I have to write my own?

It has been provided on the stock ROM. Navigate to Settings > Security > Screen Lock. Set your own security pin.

I want only the dialler app to be locked to prevent accidental calls after unlocking the screen.

Check out "applock". It has the provision to lock all apps etc. It might have dialer app.

Set the phone to airplane mode before handing it to your kids.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Last week i rooted my four months old Motorola Defy Plus and installed latest GB build of WIUI, I must say MIUI android is pure awesomeness I feel that i should have done it earlier.

I am getting more than 50 hours backup which is very good i think.

One doubt i have is, should i use Baseband switcher? Mobile is on Tata Docomo 2g, i am not facing any signal problem but in system information i notice there is a slight change in baseband version.
In default motorola rom, baseband was EPU93_U_00.60.03
But in WIUI Rom, its EPU93_U_00.60.00

Will this slight change in baseband harm my phone in anyway? please reply...
