My 2009 model of Scorpio looks better then this crap ( Scorpio in new avatar) . The front looks like a upgraded tata sumo. Let's speak less on the back side . A over confident M & M after the success of XUV has got this entirely wrong for sure .

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

I think M&M should name this as intermediate half face lift. Looking at the exterior it just look like they have hired some aftermarket modifier from Korea and did the job. A 10+ years of vehicle but still almost same in the look from day 1.
When I look into the Honda City generation it just amazed me how the changes happened in every generation of the vehicle.

+1 to Anurag. After all how many choices do we have in the sub 10-14L segment anyway. Specially in the 4WD option, i am sure with the new chassis n improved suspension Scorpio still remains a segment leader...

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

MM has done what OEMs are doing, they carry on the same profile of the vehicle and just evolve the design little bit to keep the customers happy.

Jeep wrangler, VW Beetle, 911, LC 200 etc all have the same profile and the design just keeps evolving and not bring a revolution of change. (Please, I m NOT comparing Scorpio with these legends)

I feel MM designers were made to work under constraints with their hands and imagination tied up, by the MBA marketing guys!

TATA has kept the same profile of the Safari and just evolved the design in bits by tweaking here and there. That's the reason TATA and Storme were bombarded with negative views. TATA kept the same profile and brought about the changes under the skin.

Similarly MM has brought in the changes under the skin and kept the same profile and tweaked in the front and rear and the change in the interiors.

Lets give a fair chance to MM for proving the worth the Scorpio has.

Frankly, looks a bit overdone to me. Proportions from the front appear a bit awkward. Just initial thoughts. Have to see how it looks in the flesh though!

I find the front quite acceptable. Maybe in Vlx trim it might look better. The rear is definitely overdone. It could have been better without the grab handle and the disco lights. The rear black strips is a bad imitation of current Pajero/Montero.

The dashboard looks better than the outgoing one. Wonder if it can be retrofitted into a 2012 Vlx Auto 4x4.

The funniest part are the grab rails at the back.Is this all that Mahindra could do ?
Shame on the designers!!!.At least I hope the ride quality has improved.

I was infact wondering where did I see this before. Between, retrofitting the interiors is better avoided; even if it can be done.

Its a disaster ! the butch looking scorpio has given way to the whimsical fancies of person who clearly had no idea what the automotive stood for :( the two rails on the back and the clearly overdone black garnish is pretty much a sore in the eye :(

Like wise, i am swinging more towards the XUV. I am still keeping fingers crossed that the Black variant can save the day a teeny bit.

I actually like the front end! Though the front and the rest of the vehicle now seem to be from different vehicles! 😞

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

Gawd, why do these people have to over-design everything? Things were much better in simpler times. All we needed was to tuck in a few things slightly & trim up here & there. M&M "design-room" fancies, you people are totally bad at your skills. When will these(Tata, suzuki IN too included to an extend) people even think of getting some class? I've colorful words in my kitty but..

The rear end is not-here not-there. It's OK except for the chinese lamps & fridge handles.

Even if it's still with the typical Indian built quality, sadly there will again be takers.

It could've been a tiny bit neater this way. It's not always about putting a japanese eyebrow to everything lying around. Just tried a quick something.

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

IMO, the face lifted version looks like an unsuccessful attempt at keeping everyone happy. A closer look at the redesigned front and rear gives the impression that MM tried to put in something for everyone, tried to create a design that could appeal across age groups, while trying also to increase the"value for money" perception of its best selling SUV. That they have succeeded or not, only time can tell. At this moment, I guess we can safely assume that though the newversion may not look appealing to a lot of people, this may not be all that bad for MM. Had they actually given a true head turner, they risked compromising XUV sales. Plus I think the masses are going to love this new version anyway what with all the new comforts and bells and whistles, poor design notwithstanding.

Anyone see the headlight resemblance with this 2011/12 Dodge Charger?

Front looks good, macho and up to the current design trends. The rear looks good, could have been better. Maybe a black color will lift the character of the design elements incorporated.

The biggest change I want to see would be the bumpiness and handling improvement. Interiors look good for its class.

Good luck M&M
