re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

I feel that this is the ugliest makeup in the recent times. Can't understand why the so called designers ruin the good looking original looks in the name of a face-lift. Was WagonR way back and then the Innova and now this one.

As far as looks go, I guess it's to each his/her own. But my mHawk has suddenly started looking like Cindy Crawford to me (albeit with Walrus teeth)

Even though it looks ugly here, i am sure it will sell like hot cakes like always. With some minor tweaks to its looks it might look good. Fingers crossed.

This has to be the biggest disappointment of 2014!! After all the hype, thanks to GTO and the Anonymous poster, this is a big let down. M@M have shot themselves where it hurts the most. I was putting all my money on this, thanks for the small mercies, 20k saved. Focussing on the other big launch around the same time - Vento DSG diesel, hope there is something to cheer about.

Is it just me or is the read windshield glass area have shrunk by leaps and bounds!!

Even the bullet proof modded Scorpios have a larger glass area than the one in this facelift model.

A teaser video of the new Scorpio:

Exhilarating

BTW: The teaser is exhilarating because very little (of its true colours) is seen

Sigh!!!
Wonder what the designers at M&M smoke these days.
The first victim was the Bolero, then they created the ugly duckling (Xylo) and now, the clean lines of the original Scorpio is screwed up, big time.
For god' sake, if it was just those DRLs, M&M could have given the 250 bucks worth DRLs from Flipkart or Snapdeal as an option to tick off !

Wow they managed to retrofit the 2010 Dodge Charger head lamps on to the scorpio.

Front is still acceptable but the rear is wacky.

And the alloy wheel design in similar to the ARIA's alloy wheel design.

Nice effort by MM and Mahindra customization.

I like the new face, new size of tires and rims. Disappointed on the updated rear, it doesn't match the front! Similar to what Toyota did with Fortuner's rear.

What is this?

Interesting changes in the front but the rear looks way out of place. May be its just the color (White in this case) that is accentuating the curves a bit too much. I am sure a darker color, perhaps a black NG Sorpio is going to standout. I would smoke out the tail lamps too though. Love the new alloys.

Ugh! The folks at Mahindra have created the baap of Quanto!

Oh yeah, they were right when they said you would want to book it (only) without looking at it!

'This' is the 'attempted' correction of the biggest mistake Mahindra ever made.

2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs-new-scorpio.jpg

The First generation Scorpio had beautiful tail/brake lights,
In the second generation, the so-called 'designers' made the light assemble taller by adding a garish reflector above the tail/brake light combine.

I guess, the mould was redesigned to cut the body to accommodate this new 'addition'.
Suddenly good sense prevailed that the shorter tail/brake lamp cluster looked better.

And the designer's solution to fill up the cut portion of the body??
External 'GRAB' handles, literally

End result?
It is worse than what it previously was!

And to think everyone from journalists to auto enthusiasts in TBHP and elsewhere blasted, cursed, and bamboozled TML into a "guilt pang" for creating the Storm pretty much in the image of Safari

I wonder whether the same constituency will be more forgiving towards Mahindra, for some reason. Incidentally, the changes under the skin follow very similar philosophy (e.g. lighter hydroformed chassis, stiffer panels etc.)

I am watching with keen interest

re: 2014 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift (W105). EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 7.98 lakhs

This is how you do it! I mean this is how kill a perfectly good looking design!

I have always been a cult Scorpio fanboy, obsessed at a point of time, so much so that I made my dad buy a Scorpio in 2007, I absolutely loved the way it looked back then, even the current gen Scorpio is a looker.

But this is plain pathetic, what the hell were they thinking when they were working on it!?!
If I was Anand Mahindra or any Mahindra for that matter, I would fire this set of designers, eyes closed!

I mean look at that bonnet line, it looks irritatingly ugly when viewed from the rear-three-quarters angle, those headlamps are nothing to talk about, and then comes the rear, just when it all looked good, some hero imagined himself chasing goons in an action flick and put those ugly ugly grab handles! (Ugly twice is not a typo! Its just my way of saying it looks very ugly!)

I know it might drive well and all that, but why would anyone want to buy anything that just doesn't look good! And I am sure even the dynamics might not have improved enough such as to counter this major design crisis!

I for one am very disappointed! Like someone said, this is amongst the biggest disasters of 2014.

Dear Mahindra,
Have you never observed European facelifts!?!
Sincerely Heartfailed!

I still don't believe the rear design. In the scoop pics the front photo is of a different car and the rear is of a different one. So I believe the rear will be more subtle than the one in the pic. Any way they gave enough clues with the verito vibe rear. Then again quanto rear and now this. So it's like mahindra can design good new cars but not good facelifts. Mahindra is what it is because of Scorpio and they should not play around with it.
