IIRC, Kia announced the 22 August launch far before XL6 was even teased officially by the company. This point may not be accurate. I could find the news dating to 27 June

I think Maruti made the decision of launching XL6 a day early of Seltos, than the other way round.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch a premium MPV. Update: XL6 launched @ Rs. 9.80 lakhs

How comfortable is the entry to the third row? Is the entry through the space between the seats in 2nd row? Or option of folding the 2nd row seats available?

Sorry, if these are answered anywhere in the thread already.

Upsize to 195/60 or 205/60 and that should help to some extent and will improve the ride also.

The best size will be 205/60. The speedo & tripmeter error is minimized in that case (around 1%). Also, going in for tires like Michelin P3ST or P4ST will result in no major change in mileage also, although the life of the Michelins is not more than 45-50,000 kms, despite the best of care.

Its through the space between the captain seats just like Marazzo.

Forgot to mention that this will also improve the aesthetics and tyres will not look as puny as in currently.

The tyre size of 185mm is maxed out for the rim which is 5.5J. To upsize any further, you need to change the rim to 6 or 6.5J in order to fit in a 195-205mm tyre width. Upsizing using the current rim isnt a safe option. You will have to stick to 185 or at the most go for 195mm.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch a premium MPV. Update: XL6 launched @ Rs. 9.80 lakhs

The XL6 claims to have Suzuki Tect Body in it's marketing brochure. It means that the normal ertiga also has TECT body and they deliberately did not advertise it? Seeing the development costs of 10 crores, it's not possible to have a new body shell for the XL6. I guess this will perform OK in crash tests because of the TECT structure.

Agree, 195 is the standard max but many in this forum are already running at 205 on their 5.5j and is also within acceptable limits.

The kerb weight has gone up by 40-50 kgs from the regular ertiga.

That weight increase couldn't be due to adding roof rails and body cladding. Some body strengthening has been done.

The development cost is 100 crores.

Ok, in that case their could be some body strengthening work which might have been carried out. Anyways that is always good.

Re: Maruti Suzuki to launch a premium MPV. Update: XL6 launched @ Rs. 9.80 lakhs

Happened to check out the XL6 here in Erode today. Looks well executed. The interiors are definitely a step ahead of the plastic quality in Baleno. The leather upholstery in the top end Alpha does increase the premium quotient. The lady told this has more boot space than Ertiga which was weird. May be due to difference in measurement method? They did not have spec sheets though. Was told their tabs are yet to be updated.

Anyways TDed this Khaki green petrol auto. According to me, XL6 looks best in this khakhi green. The side claddings and scuff plates made more sense in this outdoorish color. The petrol auto does get the job done. Definitely a no nonsense MPV.

Maruthi would be terribly sad if they read this! I thought they are wanting to sell this as an SUV! The car to me indeed looks good. They should have opted for a fatter rubber, would have improved the stance.

I am pretty sure that Captain seats weigh more than the regular bench seats, mostly due to the seat height being more than the bench seats. They also provide better thigh support therefore the depth too should be more.

I dont think Maruti is kind enough to bestow additional body strengthening on us Indians. Happy to be proved wrong though.

This is a screenshot from XL6 website. Maruti is content with the MPV tag. Had they called this an SUV, it would have been over ambitious. But from certain angles, especially the rear, it does have those looks, even in Ertiga. May be, 16 inch tyres might have improved the stance.
