Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

I bought a pre worshipped 5th gen CVT ZX 5th last month.

I am struggling to find boot release button. Have checked under the dashboard, found bonnet release and fuel release levers only.

Tried to unlock the boot from the remote button while doing security check at a mall. It didn't work from inside the car.

Am I missing something which is very obvious?

Mine is a VX MT and boot release is between driver seat and door sill, it should not be any different for ZX , did you check there?

As indivic stated, slide your right hand once you sit in your seat and you should be able to feel/touch/see it. It could have gone under the floor mat, if any additional matting has been done.
Apart from that on the boot door next to the camera is a rubber button which can be pressed to open from outside.
If still a no-go, revert and I will try to post photos.

It is on the right side of the driver seat.

Also, just to keep everyone informed, the RS type fog lamp cover is around INR 416 each. The stock fog lamp cover is INR207. This is an official part so can be installed. But there's a catch, you will need to have 4 small slits on the bumper to accommodate the "claws".

Thanks for your inputs BHPians. I think it may have gone below the mats. Will go and check this.

It was very embarrassing at mall gate , not being able to open the boot door. They finally allowed me to go without opening the boot as there was massive car queue behind.

Is anyone using any type of sun shades on their city? Magnetic, non-magnetic, etc. How has your experience been with those?

I am using these since last year

https://www.amazon.in/Autofact-New-H...e=Honda%3ACity

Vis a vis their cost , I am satisfied with the privacy they provide and reduction in cabin heat, plus they are legal

We do need to reposition them about once a week since either someone moves them or they get moved due to the door opening and closing. The magnets are still strong though.

Did Bangalore-Kannur drive yesterday, 331 km drive returned a mileage of 19.4 kmpl, very impressive. It was mix of city traffic, 6 lane expressway, 4 lane highway, 2 lane highway, and narrow ghat road. There were couple of crazy traffic jams in between.

Thanks, have some questions basis the reviews I read of these magnetic type ones:
  • How's the visibility of the side mirrors without opening the zips?
  • Do the magnets leave rusting spots on the car's frame or are they inside a layer of cloth?
  • What's your impression of the quality? Do you think they'll last long or about 2 summers?

Visibility without opening the zips is good, I haven't used the zip since I put them on. I prefer to open the door.

While the magnets are inside the lining, I do see spots where they stick to the metal.

The frames will bend and will go out of shape with the shape of the door if not handled carefully ,but with little care they can work for few years

P.S Apologies for the amateurish pics and any unintended objects in the mirror :-)

Re: The 5th-gen Honda City in India. EDIT: Review on page 62

Are stock tires (company provided) somehow inferior when compared with aftermarket? My first set of tires (MRF) are almost at half tread (front tires) after running for 10k kilometers. One important factor is that almost 90% of this has been on mountainous roads.

Thanks fellow BHPians here @chetan_rao , @Naparajito,
@riteshritesh @indivic who clarified my question on boot release.

Have two more questions

1. How do I make sure that the interior cabin light glows when door is opened and goes off when door is closed. I see that it remains on or off irrespective of door status

2. In the ZX version, how do I switch off the auto light which gets headlights to switch on whenever it feels fit for the darkmess, like going below an underpass etc
