Re: Tyre pressure gauge and portable inflator pump / foot pump

^^^If you want relatively better quality, get the Coido compressor I'v mentioned in earlier posts. They are available online. No idea where you can get it offline in Bombay.

Any suggestions. I am going to start my monsoon trips in July and hence was thinking of getting these before that.
Here is mine: a plain-old-foot-pump. Around Rs.400 and useful in emergencies.
I detest electrical ones (not reliable) and I buy a new one every few years.
Has served me wonderfully for decades (including some very long drives).

The tyre pressure-gauge was gifted to me by my cousin (don't know where he got it).

Oh Yes, a foot pump will be much more reliable.

Just to know, how much time and effort does it take to inflate a flat tyre and can one person do this activity by fixing the nozzle to the tyre valve like we used to do with the cycles.

And also if you could share from where you got it. I am looking to keep it only for emergencies as i generally fill up from petrol pumps.

Re: Tyre pressure gauge and portable inflator pump / foot pump

^^^Not really. I mean not necessarily much more reliable. I had one that was manufactured by some local Pune based manufacturer, and it was rubbish. And I'm not commenting about a particular pump. All their pumps were/are sub standard.

Before that one, I had 2 or maybe 3 that were made in Gujarat... Rajkot I believe. They were quire usable. Though you have to put in some effort to inflate car tyres. So I'd suggest try to get one made there. I'v seen some relatively good stuff from there - like knives, etc.

When it comes to looks, both looks fairly similar with chrome body and all, but performance and durability is way different.

I bought a foot pump from g.p road in chennai. It costed me around 500rs but it had some iso-9001 certification.
My tubed tyre indica had a flat tyre and tried the pump for the first time. I was able to inflate it to 30psi in say 2-3mts. This helped me to take it to a puncture shop and get it repaired. This is simpler for me compared to changing to spare tyre.
Tried this couple more time for my bike also. Highly recommended.

Ordered one LCD Digital Gauge from www.dx.com. Costs INR 290, with free shipping.
They have shipped the order already, awaiting delivery and will post reviews after that. Good experience so far. Looks like they have a well coordinated process for processing orders. Details in the screen shot below.

Do you have any estimate on how long it will take to reach you , been wanting to order some items from them as well but wondering in terms of not only delivery times but chances of order getting stuck in customs - which still happens with alarming frequency.

I am going to wait out till the end of this month before following up with their Customer Care. I believe the item is too cheap to catch the eye of Custom's Department, but you never know what to expect with these chaps

Is this product good for every-day use? I was thinking of buying one. How much did you pay?
