Here goes my story.....

Been driving a 02mpfi zen and always loved it for the superb performance, went a step ahead got a esteem throttle body and its a bolt on to the zen, however found that th intake manifold hole for the air passage is 40mm just the same as the throttle body of stock zen and esteem is 45mm this was causing a bottle neck, removed the intake manifold bored the hole to 45mm to match the new throttle body and now it flies...car runs more free and feels nice....

here sum pics for reference,,,i did this all at home, removing the intake manifold was easy, however at one point of time i gave up as it wudnt budge, later realised it was due to the alternator support bracket....

if u look at the fourth pic u will see a blue ring drawn near the hole, this is the area that needed to be increased,i used a die grinder and did the job,for reference i used the throttle body gasket to see how much i needed to cut off.

u can also see the intake manifold has a lot of carbon just where the injectors are placed,i used 3m choke and carb cleaner to clear the carbon, besides i also got my injectors cleaned,a new intake manifold gasket is absolutely necessary.

All this can be done at home, provided u know and can remember where is what at time of fitting back.

I find the car way better and it responds nicely even with the ac on,earlier it used to feel dead with the ac.I reverted back to stock throttle body and could feel the difference.

Battery was disconnected to refresh the ecu,A scan showed no errors...

All the black that you see on the body of the car is done through matt stickers.

- Complete Bonnet blackened (one single sheet)
- Sides of windows blackened (multiple strips)
- 'New' Model 4 Stroke 13 Inch Neo Alloys (The design is called 'New')
- Blinking Indicators Covers (Couldnt get the black ones anywhere so will eventually paint them black to match)

No upgrades to the engine yet (other than what was there earlier) but have an FFE and Iridium Plugs in the pipeline.

All this stickering work shouldnt have taken more than 1-2 days at the most but it took me 3 months due to certain availability factors (both mine as well the sticker walas). I will have another post coming up shortly with pictures of the whole stickering process.
The best looking zen ive seen , awesome !

Left side adjustable mirror .

Just I got the left side adjustable mirror .

Since I did not take the car that day ,I just got the kit .

When I fitted at home ,the internal bracket (although had holes for screws ,I got the screws also ) , the other side does not have a groove to hold the screws . It should be simple , I am missing some part ?

Looking good, Skyliner! Especially the "blue" effect of the discs. What was the cost of the same & tyres? Did u get an exchange for the old rims? BTW, were the previous rims 12" or 13" ?

Im planning to do that too. My current mirror is not convex/concave and I can hardly seething from these mirrors.

Is your mirror curved for more vision? How much and from where?

Nice sweet alloys.

How much for the alloys and tyres?

Actually MASS will not sell outside ,but that day I had not taken car and hence they gave it outside the counter .I had gone to renew my insurance on that day.BTW I got this at suraksha ,where I service my car .

Take it from essar outlet at JC road .There you can get it over the counter any maruti parts.

MRP is on the package , how can they sell it for more ? .It was around 980 Rs .Don't have the exact number now.

Hey Guys, I've just bought a 2004 Zen and am thinking about alloys. The car has 12" steel rims and the tyres are pretty new (MRF ZVTS'). Is it worth upgrading to 13" over getting 12" alloys & using the existing tyres? I'm also looking for a tacho - can somebody suggest a good place in Pune ?

12" Pro's -

1. Original specs
2. 145/80's give smoother ride over rough roads/potholes
3. Marginally better FE
4. Lighter steering at parking speeds
5. You can retain existing tyres on 12" alloys

12" Con's -

1. Not many options in Alloys

13" Pro's -

1. Better handling/cornering @ high speed
2. More options in alloys (& in tyres)

13" Con's -

1. Reduction in tyre side wall height (lower profile to account for 1" increase in rim diam) makes the ride rougher on uneven roads
2. Slight reduction in FE
3. You will have to spend on new tyres no matter what. (Think of this as a boon in disguise to get rid of MRF ZVTS )

I was having the same dilemma but I decided on stock configuration in order to avoid changing ride quality and suspension related issues.

Regarding tachos in Pune, I think there won't be much choice. Better to try Mumbai. Cheers.

Thanks Zen2001. I think i'll go with 12" alloys, the main reason being i'll have to spend another 10k on new tyres if i go for 13".

Re: The Zen Modifications Thread

Does Michelin xm1+ have 155/70R13 ? . If I upgrade from 145/80R12 to the above , I would be gaining ~1 cm GC .

With this upgrade the overall diameter would increase to 548 from 536.7 . How would be handling due to increased 1cm height and braking (should improve ?) ?

Alloys I am looking for these http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/tyre-a...ml#post2186820

Re: The Zen Modifications Thread

Hey Guys. I got my stock steel rims painted matte black today. I tried to get those chrome rings, but they don't seem to be available anywhere. So this is my solution
