What is a gear lock?
Are you refering to gear rod lock or the steering wheel lock?

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

^^ And Are there/Can there be Gear Locks for AT Ecosport? Personally, I would rest a bit easier if there were, knowing that I have probably added 10-15 minutes of effort for the miscreant.

Rather, I would like to know whether Automatic Cars have Gear Locks or not? Anyhow, since you're from NCR you won't even find Gear Lock for Manual Ecosports yet.

Havent been able to find a recommended gear lock for the Santro, i10, City (all automatics) yet. Each of the dealers discouraged trying to get any fixed on the AT variants.
Have used a steering lock on all of these, but would consider an Ecosport quite tempting for theft in NCR (17 lakh official price in Nepal, right?), so would really like to install both when I get mine.

^ Yes, I think I'll get a Steering Lock in the meanwhile. :(
I somehow, am a believer in the philosophy that there is NOTHING I can do to prevent a theft from a really determined individual.
Only steps I, can and must take, would be to make the experience difficult, lengthy and time-consuming. Only therein, lies some security.

Exactly! My try would be the same too.
On the same line, how do you plan to secure the external spare wheel? Do you feel the locking nut (repeated every 10th Ecosport?) & a wheel cover with lock (how strong is it?) is good enough?

What have the other owners done to prevent theft (as much as possible) of the external spare wheel? Suggestions...

Hey, where'd you get the chrome badging for the spare wheel cover. They add a touch of class to the otherwise boring cover.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Locking nut is quite strong
Spare wheel cover is a good option, you can lock that too if need be
If you are not satisfied with all of these and want more uniqueness ,you can get your own unique wheel lock nut set for the spare wheel and all four wheels.

Hi, one more question there is no extra custom or tax applicable?
Do you have experience with dx.com?
Thanks.

Hey skyfire,

I was not taxed extra but there is a disclaimer by every seller stating"the buyer has to bear any local country taxes".

Ive seen dx.com nice site with lot of good stuff.
I dont have any personal experience with them.Any input will be highly appreciated

I have got various small stuff from dx. Its the same story there. Never taxed but the same disclaimer. Just be sure to choose the slower Hong Kong Airmail service rather than the faster shipping options
Shipping is free to India through it.(beyond an order value of $15)
It takes around 20 days to reach usually.

Re: Ford EcoSport : Official Review

Today got a call from my dealer about my allocation of Titanium diesel Ecosport. But to my surprise the Sales advisor said that your vehicle comes with factory fitted leather seat covers and wheel cover which will increase the price of the vehicle by 40k.
Is there something like this on offer from Ford or my dealer is forcing me to take these as compulsory accessories. Really confused and I haven't got my VIN number as well though to confirm the month of manufacture :(
Awaiting for your valuable inputs
