Same here !
Had a detailed discussion with my dealer here in Bangalore and below are the inputs captured:
1. Price increase of about 18K-20K (ex showroom) from 1-August-2015
2. New variants with AVN to reach the dealer by Aug end to Sep 1st week
3. Dealer confirmed that the AVN can be retrofitted later (approx 30K - Discounts applicable)

My original booking was of i20 Asta (petrol) stardust later changed to i20 Asta (diesel) stardust and was scheduled to be delivered on 12 August.

Since there was no price protection offered, I changed the colour to polar white (i20 Asta Diesel) - This vehicle was in transit at the time of change. Getting the delivery on 6th August. And yes this is July 2015 manufactured Vehicle!

Guess you have to pay the extra ₹18000-20000 as its being delivered after the price increase. Wish they had frozen the prices on at least the ones in transit

I need not to pay the increased price. They did freeze the price and invoice was raised for the same.

Very nice indeed.
I like the looks of this car and almost everything about it.
I only dislike the wheezy 1.2 litre petrol engine.
and a couple of other things such as their nasty habit of de-speccing these cars before offering them here in India.
If only this car would be available with that 1.4 or 1.6 petrol engine, more safety stuff, rear disc brakes and so on, it would be a nice hot hatch!

Re: Hyundai Elite i20 : Official Review

Shankar - The car internationally is also available with 1.2, 1.1 and 1.4 engines only. I don't think any country has the 1.6 engine in this car. Also the 1.2 engine is also not that bad, it might not be a power house but isnt that bad also especially once you start living with it. I graduated from a 1.3 diesel engine and initially I did feel the lack of a turbo but I have started enjoying the 1.2 engine also.
I am sure Hyundai wouldn't have an issue with offering the 1.4L, however given the fantastic laws in our country the engine would push prices beyond a buyer's rationale.
Rear disc brakes is a good safety feature but unfortunately does the actual buyer miss such features? I doubt.

Agreed it may not be available with the 1.6 petrol. But there is no harm wishing is there?

The 1.4 is quite decent enough. The 1.2 is hopelessly underpowered and causes great distress every time one tries to accelerate and overtake.

I find it a wheezy little engine and am unhappy with it!

Re: Hyundai Elite i20 : Official Review

So finally took the delivery of my Elite i20 Asta CRDi in Passion Red color last week and I must say that I’m very happy with the overall performance of the car. As we all are already aware of the power packed performance of the 1.4 CRDi engine and at the same time being refined as well, all I can say is I am a very happy and content man right now.
However, one thing which I find a bit irritating is the gear shift indicator constantly telling me to upshift or downshift. I find that Hyundai has configured this indicator in a way that we can get the best possible mileage out of the car but hey, I’m not the one who is constantly worried about the mileage and likes to push "my machine" hard once in a while. With so many features, they could have also given an option to disable the annoying indicator. But as we say, no car is perfect!!
I’m planning to go for the 3M CR 70 sun film only for the front windshield. Has anyone here got it installed on their Elite i20, and does is really make a difference considering the amount we pay for it?

Re: Hyundai Elite i20 : Official Review

The Elite i20 is likely to get a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine in international markets.

Not much sure if it is really tuned for fuel efficiency. From my observation, the indicator suggests 6th gear only after you reach speeds around 85-90 kmph. (though you can push the engine and engage 6th right around 65 kmph). The speeds suggested for each gear are just above the turbo kick in speeds. So I feel that the gear shift indicator has been tuned more towards keeping the engine always in the turbo zone, which may not be a fuel saving practice.

Agree, I'm loving the 1.2L Asta petrol after 6 months of usage. The slick steering makes it really easy to whizz around. Only negative things are the sluggish starts from traffic stops and the tight clutch which is a killjoy in city commutes. Design and feature wise not even the latest Jazz could beat this.

Congratulations mate!

Please do check out my month old i20 Asta CDRi ownership thread for all the answers you are looking for

I just got the 3M CR 70 sun film applied on the front windshield & front windows last week. Sadly, the weather in Chennai hasn't been all that sunny over the past week so I can't really comment right now. But it is getting hotter since today, so maybe in a few days I'll have an update for you

Sir I tried your suggestion today. It didn't work. I would be glad if you could please ask around to hyundai guys. Our workshop people have no idea on how to disable the sound.
Thank you for your help.
