Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

It's true that Six airbags are also coming in both the VX and GX versions. Gx edition will be called Festive edition and it will have same interiors which are being offered in VX. Obviously, the prices are going to shoot up soon across the Hycross range this month itself. Toyota Hycross will offer more value now with a little extra pricing!

This update was already on cards definitely as the deadline of Oct 2023 is coming near and every car manufacture (specially 7-seater cars need to offer 6 airbags from base variant itself)

6 airbags as standard now for the Complete Innova Hycross range

Toyota site also confirms the same!

With this change, VX becomes the most value for money variant of INNOVA HYCROSS. It now has 6 airbags and 360 degree cam, auto AC, auto IRVM, Front and rear parking sensors and most important - a Hybrid powertrain.

Since 6 airbags are coming as a standard fitment, soon the Hycross will be sent for Crash Tests as well and you should not be surprised that with this change, it will surely bring 5 stars rating. The Hycross is built on Corolla Cross Platform which is already 5 star rated car. Only thing which was missing was 6 airbags in Hycross from base variant itself. Crash test ratings will be shared soon....

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

I think these base model petrol vs full option hybrid breakeven comparisons don't have much merit to them.

When you buy any other car, upgrading to the higher model gives you more power and more features for more money but with less mileage due to the bigger engine.
For example:
1. The 1.0 tsi vs 1.5tsi in VWs
2. The 2.2 Endeavour vs 3.2 Endeavour
3. The 4 cylinder 520d vs the 6 cylinder 530d

In all these cars, you pay more to get more power and features with the downside of less mileage.

In the Hycross too, you pay more for the hybrid variants to get more power and more features. The extra mileage is just a bonus.

Cars are not a investment. If your end goal is to save money, then you do it by buying the cheaper variant and putting the rest of the money in some returns generating fund.
If your end goal is to drive a better car, then you pay up for the higher variants.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Six airbags make the GX variant a value-for-money variant. The seven-seater AX5 petrol automatic variant of XUV700 costs about 26 lakhs on the road in my city. The GX after the price increase will end up in the same range, but now with almost the same feature set including curtain airbags. Hycross GX will be a better buy than AX5 Automatic any day.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

After hearing that VX is getting 6 airbags as standard, I felt I should’ve waited for few days and get one as ours had come with 2 airbags.

Anyway, kudos to Toyota for making 6 airbags standard from base variant itself.

On the other hand, our Hycross VX will be completing 1000 Kms by today and will be giving it for first service tomorrow or day after tomorrow.

I feel the Goodyear assurance that came with it is decent enough. You can try Michelin Primacy if you want a proper upgrade in noise, ride quality and wet grip.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Few upgrades for my Hycross VX:

I have recently added - Roof Rails, Wheel Cladding, Window Beltline Chrome, Fender Chrome and Front Fog lamp Garnish. Installation is D.I.Y. All these items were ordered online and installation was done by me only at my home.

Modifications/ installation of accessories done so far are summed up as below:
1) Fog lamps installation was done by Toyota Dealership
2) Damping on all the doors, boot and bonnet by Madaan Radios
3) Speakers were also upgraded to Morel Components in the front and coaxials at the rear - installation from Madaan Radios
4) Added 7d mats from Autoform bought from Madaan Radios
5) Boot Chrome lining installed from Toyota dealership
6) Handle Chrome Garnish installed from Toyota dealership
7) Door side black and chrome garnish installed from Toyota dealership
8) Innova badging on the front was installed from Toyota dealership
9) Wheel Cladding was ordered from VVR Car Care https://www.vvrcarcare.in/ (+91- 9514140203)
10) Window belt line chrome was also ordered from VVR Car Care
11) Roof Rails (Galio) were ordered from https://zapcart.in/
12) Fender Chrome from https://www.carplus.in/
13) Fog lamp Garnish from https://www.carplus.in/

Interior is completely untouched. I plan to keep the original seats as the cloth material provided by Toyota in VX version is really comfortable and does not get hot during summers. Also with the cloth lining, I never felt the need of any under seat ventilation.

The only thing which is left to be added are the side-steps (I am waiting for official sidesteps from Toyota)

Now I will let photos do all the talking

They mentioned since it is prone to hits, especially in tight situations, they provide it to only to those who specifically ask for it.

Just to be clear it is not my car in the picture but i am planning to get it fixed when i visit for the 1 month service.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross Review

Completed 1000 Kms on the odo with our Hycross VX Hybrid today and also, got the first free service done today just after completing 1000 Kms.

I gave the car for service at around 10am and I was out by 12:15pm. Was promised to be delivered by 11:45am itself but due to technical glitches from the service center, had to take the car at 12:15pm. Since its a 2 hours job, I stayed near the car and bought back home.
