May be the T-jet with 195 tyres should do a little bit more!
Autocar had just estimated the top speed. I doubt they tested it. So dont worry it should do 200kmph on the speedo at least.

It's raining Linea's for second sale on Carwale. Mainly 1.4's. Is it the T-jet effect?

Detailed comparison between Linea T-Jet and Honda City

Guys,

Just found this, while surfing for the latest feedback on the T-Jet. Quite a detailed comparo between the Contemporary City and the Classic Linea T-Jet.. I am sure T-Jet will give some serious competition to the "Mighty" City (provided the buyers truly evaluate the cars and not get biased based on the Brand)

Enjoy reading it..

No Sathya. 185 in MJD is not the actual 185. It is also practically impossible to reach 185 with 90 bhp in any car even if the weight were very light unless it is designed like an aeroplane. Linea's speedo overreads at about 6% with the 195/60 R15, i.e. when speedo is 100, it is actually doing 94. When the megazines say 185 as top speed, they mean the real speed.

If you want to quickly calculate the actual speed of Linea at 4600 rpm in 5th gear for the MJD, you can use the following formula:

D = diameter of wheel = (15*25.4 + 195*.60*2)*PI / 1000
G = 5th gear ratio = 0.767
F = Final drive ratio = 3.929
R = RPM = 4600
S = Actual speed in Kmph = D * R*60 / G / F = 176.95 Kmph

Though I would doubt if Linea can do 4600 rpm in 5th gear unless wind or slope does some favours. Megazines have put Linea MJD's top speed at 168 or 170 Kmph, which would be roughly 180's on odo, which I have also done.

Now coming back to why T-jet cannot do more than 185 Kmph. Please read my post http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/techni...ml#post2076669 before proceeding.

According to Puma Race Engines Technical Guide - How engine power and top speed are related 114 ps will roughly top till 193 Kmph (120 mph), but that is just about a figure and to reach that Linea T-jet needs a gear that does about that speed at its peak power rpm, i.e. 5000 rpm, i.e. about 38 Kmph per 1000 rpm. Any other gear ratio lesser than that will run out of rev and any other gear that is taller than that will struggle to rev till 5000 rpm itself. Linea T-jet has a gear ratio that does 2300 rpm at 100 Kmph, i.e. around 43.5 Kmph per 1000 rpm and thus will never reach 5000 rpm. And we know that power below/above that rpm is less than 113 ps. Its 4th gear will be on lower side of 30's and thus will run out of rev before hitting 190+.

Hope this explanation helps.

The Punto's manual says: 'Do not warm up the engine with the car standing'. This is better for economy as well as emissions. As per the manual it's better to drive off immediately and slowly after starting, keeping the engine speed down until the engine temperature guage starts moving. It was raining when I started today and it took about 3-4 minutes for the guage to start moving.

Other things that the manual says:
- A burst of acceleration before switching off is bad for the engine
- After a spirited run, allow the engine to 'catch its breath' before switching off.

Finally, Bangalore Ex Showroom Price for TJet Plus (with leather and 16" alloys) is Rs 9.11 lacs and i would therefore expect top end on road price of 10.7 lacs or thereabouts.

Cars are expected around Diwali, though not sure when the booking process would begin.

Cheers

Thats good news, so the T-Jet is coming to other cities too. Hopefully they will have atleast some festival discounts to make the price a bit lower.

Starrysky was referring to the Turbo in MJD! He owns Punto 90HP.

Prerna Motors Bangalore has the pricing. Demo Cars are expected around 3rd November. We cannot obviously expect a discount on a new car at launch - its ridiculous to expect a discount at this stage !

The Tjet (without the plus) would cost 50k lower on road.

cheers

The off-road tax in Karnataka kills you! 1.2l? Ridiculous for the excuse of roads we get here.
