Re: Bodybuilding - Exercises and Supplements

The jury is still out on whether or not you need to cycle Creatine Monohydrate.

Since I have been on a maintenance dose only lately,...wanted to check what is the longest you have stayed on Creatine without a break.

Creatine really does work for me by pushing the overall intensity and endurance helping you squeeze the last few reps out. Yet to see any water retention in the muscle though. I never load, as in take 05 gms a day post work out along with my protein shake.

Brief:- Been lifting on and off for the past 10 yrs. However been consistent only for the last two years. I am 34,..and gains are slower. But I shall keep with it. My goals are to stay as big naturally as possible, while maintaining under 20 % body fat.

Creatine is to the natural lifter what Testosterone is to the steroid junkie.

My first suggestion would be to evolve your creatine type, from monohydrate to say an ethyl-ester. You will have minimal or no bloat and other mild sides of the monohydrate.

I have personally seen the most dramatic results from BSN's Cell Mass and coupled with NO Explod it is a very potent supplement.

You can easily go 10 weeks, that's what I have at max. Usually I do a 8 week on and 2-3 weeks off which is very creatine heavy with both pre and post workout creatine supplements. NoExplod+CellMass, Superpump250+SizeOn, NoExplod+CellTech is what I have tried.

Ideal is 8 weeks on, 4 weeks off. Creatine doesnt cause much damage, and in a world where steroid abusers go on endless cycles without any PCT, you can consider yourself really safe with creatine.

That said, everything should be cycled, even protein and types of protein. Taking 5gms and not loading is just fine, but do come off it. The kidneys get stressed a bit with monohydrate due to all the conversion of the phosphate to creatinine.

What I find working for me is, on a gaining phase- a postworkout product works wonders; and while trying to stay lean and keep the lifts going- it is the preworkout that helps. This helps cycling etc too.

I appreciate your honest goal to stay natural and under 20%; takes effort and heart!

Let me know if this helps.

Forgot to mention: I went almost 1.5 years without any creatine and found BCAAs, Multivitamins and L Glutamine are great when combined with a regular training program and hi-protein diet.

Since there is no separate fitness thread, let me post this here:

This was standard punishment in schools in 70s and before. But I didn't know the reason for ear holding until recently when it was recommended to my autistic son.

Trekking For The First Time To Kalsubai

Kalsubai is the tallest peak in Maharashtra, as the trekkers and hikers would know. A team is going trekking to its summit this weekend and I have half a mind to join them.

I haven't been into any intense physical exercise since last four years and before that too it hasn't exactly been intense. However I am ready to walk distances. My question is, would Kalsubai be too big a challenge for me?

No you can go ahead, if you are not very overweight and if you do not have fear of heights then surely you should join the team. Its tiring but not to the extent that you should miss it. Be safe as its rainy season and rocks can get slippery. Have a safe trip and enjoy!

Re: Bodybuilding - Exercises and Supplements

does anyone know about any powerlifting/weightlifting gyms in delhi ? Street-corner gyms are fine as long as they have a squat cage/rack. I have been starting on the stronglifts program and cannot find a gym which has a rack instead of a smith machine.

Please help!!

P.S. @harry10 - I have ordered from VNC. Their unflavored whey imported from australia (hilmar or saputo) is very good and very well priced. They still have to pick up on customer service though.

Thanks for the suggestion. There are other pressing commitments, because of which I am not sure I shall be able to join, but I shall remember it.

Re: Bodybuilding - Exercises and Supplements

Been on the Rippetoe strength program past few months.

Strength gains were good, and it got me squatting and pulling off the floor again.

Helped my form immensely, and I will recommend thoroughly.

Moving back to a 3 day program which looks like this:

Bodybuilding.com - Traditional Routine

Plan to add some more pull work on back day with Pull-Ups and a set of Deadlift.

Dropping Stiff Leg Deads from leg day and replacing with Leg Curls.

Shoulder Press will be replaced with either the Dumbell Press or standing Overhead Press.

Flat bench will replace the Incline.

Any suggestions from you guys here?

Plan to add a 20minute cardio post workout on each weight training day, and alternate off day will be fasted cardio since I will try train in the mornings.

Just cant get myself to wake up these days.
