Perilloor Premier League - Malayalam

The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)-1.jpg

Synopsis - Malavika, who comes to the village of Perilloor to find love with her boyfriend Sreekuttan, unexpectedly ends up becoming the village Panchayat President against her will.

This came in as a surprise. I was about to skip it but decided to try the first episode. It was pretty enjoyable. All characters had some unique distinction and felt very realistic. Not sure on Sunny Wayne's acting, but others did a good job. Decent cast as well. The series picks up really well but kind of drags in the middle but doesnt spoil the fun (spidoes are short as well).

Rating - 4.5/5 (Hotstar). Highly recommended.

Watched Killer soup over the weekend on Netflix, finally after a long time a good Indian series, Konkana, Manoj Bajpayee, Nasser all do a fab job, good turns and twists.
Definitely not in the league of Suzhal and all.
4/5

Fool me once on Netflix
Rating 4/5

This is classic British mystery series on the investigation of the murders in a family. Stretched over 8 episodes. It slowly builds each person's character. Overall I quite liked the plot and how everything is linked. Lead actress Michelle Keegan acted well and looks pretty!

"Killer Soup" on Netflix 2/5.

An okay-ish crime drama series. Some of my favorite stars in it but I wish they toned down the language and lingo in it by a few notches. I'm not understanding this trend of extremely generous, unnecessary use of F and other cuss words everywhere. It's tiring.
The series would have been equally effective without a single f word in it.
The streaming services have opened the floodgates for adult/vulgar/violent shows but some of these really make me scratch my head and this is one of those.

Criminal Record on Apple TV+ looks good. S1E3 so far; refreshes every Wednesday.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was a bit slow earlier but doing nicely now.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Finally, completed Fargo Series (S1, S2 and S3)

Like many folks said here, While making these series they seemed to have lost interest as time passes as S1 is outstanding, S2 is very good and S3 is Average to good.

I would rate these 3 seasons as follows :

S1 : 5/5
S2 : 4/5
S3 : 3/5

S1 and S2 has some intertwined characters and stories so it's mandatory to see them in sequence. While S3 has no connection to previous seasons.

Have you noticed in each season the antagonist is a very well educated individual who mouths some flowery " English" and quotes inane stuff. That's the major fun of this series ( it's almost like Tarantino movies where inane dialogues become the integral part of this films).

S1 had Billy Bob Thornton, S2 had Satchel Cannon and S3 had David Thewlis mouthing some fantastic but, totally inane comments.

The brilliance of this series is the simplicity and inter-connections of characters. Also, the location played a super important part of its success.

With that said, Should I skip Season 4 and jump directly to Season 5 or, Season 4 is worth the time? Watching 10 episodes is a lot of work. LOL!

Cheers to Fargo Series. Amazing stuff !!

The next best thing after the magnificent Band of Brothers is coming on Jan 26 (Apple TV). Hanks, Spielberg and an amazing cast to don this 9 part series. Can't wait!

Mr. Mercedes (Amazon Prime)

The series is based on Stephen King's trilogy. Finished watching S1 and midway through S2.

S1 was excellent but S2 is more like a science fiction but still good though. Brendan Gleeson is brilliant as Bill Hodges.

American Nightmare

Netflix

Watched this 3 episode docu-series based on a true crime. Very interesting, gripping. Anything further said and I may be spoiling the suspense.

4.5/5

Indian police force on Prime
Rating 0/5

Started watching this series without much expectations and it turned out to be worse than I anticipated.
Typical Bollywood style Rohit Shetty series. More than story and acting focus is on looks, melodrama, costumes, stupid dialogues. It feels like everyone just walked out of a salon. It completely dissolves the seriousness of the plot.
On one side we have excellent series like 'The family man' and on the other side, such stupidity is being produced.

Thanks for the info. Band of Brothers is just great. Just watched it on Jio Cinema. Watched just 2~3 episodes yet but it's a 5/5.

Cheers...

Absolutely agree with your rating, it deserves negative ratings in fact. Despite my usual abhorrence to anything Rohit Shetty, I started watching this as a normal viewer since it’s a web series and not a movie. I stopped watching during the second episode only but somehow went on again. And 10 minutes into the third episode after, I went numb and fast forwarded the entire series.

The makers should be sued for showing police in such low light. There are such elementary mistakes in the series that anyone with little knowledge of the police system would know, how the police forces operate in real word. Absolute garbage of a series. Instead, I recommend watching INDIA’s MOST WANTED starring Arjun Kapoor and directed by Raj Kumar Gupta to see how the forces really work.

Do read the book by Donald Miller. I am happy that this is airing on Apple TV - nothing comes close to Apple TVs audio and video quality and this should be a really good series to experience in UHD + dolby.

How I wish we could watch Band of Brothers in a movie theather. I would pay good money for a BoB all day marathon

Long done - my review of the book is on the WW2 thread (posted below).

Actually the show production started off with HBO back in 2012. Somewhere midway Apple took over. But I agree to your other point - this would be a great full day marathon event to watch in a good theatre.

The US and Britain divided this in this manner - US did their bombing raids in the day time while Britain did it in the night.

Wedding.con

Amazon Prime

India's answer to The Tinder Swindler. Longing for compassion can make people blind to all red flags. The story is entirely one-sided from the victim viewpoint, so I am not sure how accurate are the entire proceedings, but all in all a good series for people to keep up with the kind of scams going around, especially in the world of online matchmaking.
