Without Remorse - 2.5/5

While the acting was good, the plot was too weak for an action thriller. Please skip it if you have better movies waiting in your watchlist.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Without Remorse— Worse than any of the typical 90s Hollywood action movies. Predictable plot, so much so that the moment Guy Pearce appeared there was no more suspense! Another good actor who has always been typecast!

Saw John Wick on Netflix yesterday. Terrible waste of time. Mindless action. I know the hero has to win, but this was too much.

Haha this is surprising. John Wick has become a cult classic and I personally like Keanu. Was this the first movie.

Watch all 3 parts, available on Lionsgate Play. It's more of an action flick than anything else. Part 4 has also begun shooting. I did watch part 1 and then hunted for other parts. I liked them just for the action stuff.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Insidious (Part 1& 2) 3.5/5

For all Horror movie fans, this one is a gem. Have watched it few times and each time the subtle details of the story are more comprehensible. James Wan has a gift of putting a soul to ghost stories

Part 2 especially is very interesting as it uncovers a deeper secret of the storyline.

Insidious’ entire plot revolves around spiritual happenings. They begin with those unseen hands closing doors and spooky apparitions appearing in windows and mirrors. Perhaps the most violent-looking individual in the cast is a demonic entity who appears to have his face painted with lipstick.

Trivia The red faced demon, Peter Parker's mother, Bathsheba (Conjuring) and Annabelle Demon are all played by the same guy - Joseph Bishara. He is also behind those scary background music score for these movies.

Even more than screeching violins and goose bump inducing demonic entities, makes this flick’s biggest and most repulsive scare.

Horror movie fans who haven't watched it then go ahead with it immediately. A must watch!

It is all about the ‘mindless action’ - with a singular focus. Plus Keanu Reeves had this internet cult thing going already what with the tragedies in his personal life, so it was just waiting to be the pop culture phenomenon it is.

To each his own, anyway .

I know I know. I got the same "you are crazy" look from some friends who loved John Wick, but I found the action to be a little too unbelievable. This was the first part, where Mr Wick avenges a puppy.

Yes, he's been part of the Conjuring universe for some time now. Another guy is Javier Botet (Mama fame) who is also part of this movie franchise. Some interesting videos of him are there on YouTube. Sad that he suffers from a medical condition but that physical appearance does amp the thrill factor in horror movies.

Watch Sinister if you haven't. Not as exciting as the Conjuring franchise but does have some good jump scares.

Sacrilege!!
You think Neo can't do "unbelievable"?

Watch Street Kings, then. Thats more believable, and a very good watch.
Or you can cross over and see Sweet november, or Bill and ted (Not the new one).

Have watched both Sinister 1 & 2. A fan of Ethan Hawke. The background score of the movie especially when the tapes are been played is one of the best I have heard so far. Any more such true horror movies? (not into 'saw' & 'zombie' kind of horror)

Will watch the next two parts of Insidious and then probably on a hunt for movies similar to these - Conjuring, Mama, WIB etc.

The Lie (2018) This movie is about a couple trying to save their daughter who pushed her friend off a bridge intentionally.

Apart from the usual Conjuring universe, Mama and Woman in black, here are few I think are pretty good.

Hereditary
Get out (Not the usual horror)
Tale of two sisters (Korean)
The Others (A classic one)
The Boy (Sequel was bad though)
Poltergeist Trilogy
The Babadook (Just ok)
Few films from Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Shining - Although it's said to be the best, it was more of a psycho thriller. But loved some of the camera angles.
The Devil's Backbone
The Orphanage
The Witch

Adding to the list-

1. Dead Silence (must watch, slightly cheesy though)

2. Mirror series (a good watch)

3. Drag me to hell 2009 (average)

4. Oculus (above average)

5. Oujia series (average)

6. Amityville Series (a good series)

7. Lights out 2016 (above average)

Guys,
Please do not post lists. This has been discussed in the past on these theads - lists don't help a lot. A bit of a description, some details, and your rating per movie if possible. If we wanted lists, a google search of "Horror movies" would suffice. Trust you understand
