Soul: 4/5

You have to give it to Pixar to explain some of the most complex concepts in the simplest manner possible, as in to a kid. And in this beautiful movie, they deal with multiple concepts - what is a soul, what happens after death or prior to birth, purpose of life and so on.

Like many other award winning Pixar movies, there's no bad guy, no villain in this movie. Just flow with the soul of the movie. A beautiful movie for all - irrespective of the age of the viewer.

Paulie

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-1.jpg

Synopsis - Paulie, a talking parrot subjected to an experiment, relates the story of his struggle to an immigrant who works as a janitor at a science lab, who later tries to help him escape.

Sweet little movie. Really enjoyed the story telling. Would definitely recommend this.

Rating - 4.75/5

Togo

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-2.jpg

Synopsis - Leonhard, a musher, adopts Togo, a Siberian husky considered to be weak, and trains him. When Togo leads the 1925 serum run, he becomes a hero for Nome, Alaska.

Amazing visuals and story. Nice to know that it was based on a true story. Definitely deserved recognition. Highly recommended.

The Ritual (2017):

Pretty decent horror (?) movie. Some of the shots are amazing and the movie really pulls you in.

3.5/5

Elizabeth is missing (2019)

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-square.png

Synopsis - A woman with Alzheimer's grows suspicious when her best friend fails to turn up to meet her. Soon, the flashes of her sister, who disappeared 70 years ago, reel her into an unofficial investigation.

It was a nice movie but what amazed me was Glenda Jackson's acting. What a performance. Watch it for her performance. Highly recommended.

Rating - 4/5

The Best of Men (2012)

The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)-a_.jpg

Synopsis - The remarkable Dr Guttmann comes to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and begins to transform the lives of his patients. They are paralyzed soldiers, written off and facing death from neglect. Their big breakthrough comes when Guttmann introduces sport into their rehabilitation.

Pretty good movie with superb performances from Eddie Marson, Rob Brydon and George MacKay (1917 fame). Felt that they rushed at the end to finish it off. Great to hear of such noble doctor's contribution.

Rating - 4/5

All the parts are available on Lionsgate. There are many more movies available there including Angel Has Fallen and some really good ones.

Fully agree.
That's one of the best movies I have seen offlate.

The story telling was perfect and the visuals + back ground score just nailed it.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

While most of the recommendation here in this thread are for watching the movies, this one of mine is to STAY OFF from Terminator Genisys

If you loved T1 & T2 from 1984 & 1991 and to an extent tolerable 2003 Rise of Machines, this one is total let down. The plot was good with all the time travel, but the way the screenplay was let down.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Inside Man just popped up on my Netflix list. Awesome movie, would strongly recommend . Movie around a bank robbery that will keep your brain working, with all the twists & turns. Splendid dialogues. Denzel Washington is A+ as always, yet Clive Owen has bested him.

Rating 5 / 5 stars.

Not exactly a recommendation for Feature Films.

A lot of interesting short films can be found here in all categories.

Recommend American Gangster, he acts so well that you are rooting for the villain!

Yup, saw it again last week. Had seen it few years back. Watched Safe House also a couple of months back. And then The Equalizer 2 followed by repeating the part 1 again. The Crimson Tide is another good one worth watching.
