Elona Holmes 2.5/5

Ever wondered what happens when you put 90% effort into something with HUGE potential ? Mediocrity.

Directors shouldn't have compromised on this one. They'd have had a great start which could've been followed by a fascinating set of sequels.

But it's not terribly bad also, can watch for time pass if you're not a Sherlock Holmes fan.

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

My family are big fans of Stranger Things and the fact that "Eleven" is playing the eponymous lead makes it a big draw! Will probably check it out this weekend. Thanks for the tip.

The Secret in Their Eyes - Amazon Prime - 4.5/5

I think this is the first Argentine movie that I have ever seen. And what an excellent introduction!

It is a whodunit to find the killer behind an unresolved murder case. It builds slow but builds well towards the climax. Excellent storytelling and acting!

Note: It won the the Oscar for best foreign language film in 2010.

Man, what a movie! Watched Still Alice and am giving it 5 / 5 stars . Strongly recommended flick on a 50-year old smart, successful & savvy woman who gets hit by Alzheimer's disease. Julianne Moore is outstanding and the way she shows the decline of brain functioning is spectacular. Everyone else - including hubby Alec Baldwin - is equally impressive.

Don't miss.

In the Valley of Elah

Don't know whether this can be recommended or not as many won't find this interesting. But I totally loved it. Not many expressions from Tommy Lee but what an acting - the expression of a concerned father not knowing where his son is, you can really make out from his face.

Rating - 5/5

Re: The English Movies Thread (No Spoilers Please)

Guys, I have to strongly recommend this creatively-brilliant masterpiece called "American Murder: The Family Next Door". It's a docu-movie like you've never seen before, and is entirely made of video footage from police bodycams, CCTVs & Facebook posts. The way the story unfolds is just WOW!

5 / 5 stars. One of the best I've watched this year, again because of the creativity.

The Mule

Client Eastwood is a genius when it comes to direction and more so when he himself is part of the movie. Lawrence Fishbourn, Bradley Cooper and in a nice cameo is Andy Garcia, kind of complete the wonderful movie about an old man working as a carrier for a drug cartel. Overtly recommended watch, playing on Netflix.

That guy is a movie world genius! As an actor and director he is involved in some really amazing movies

When Tom Hanks was being directed by him, he says Clint never says "cut" after a scene. Instead he would say "that's enough of that"!

Saw it, man. Would personally give it a 3 / 5 rating. Good movie for Eastwood fans, but I found the story rather boring & predictable.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 : 4 / 5

A beautiful movie on the Chicago trial of the 7 (8 actually) anti-Vietnam war protestors charged with indicting riots in Chicago. Filled with some heavy cast (Sacha Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Joseph Levitt and others), this is a good movie giving a ring-side view of how the judicial system turns out when it is politically motivated. Considering the election and the situation of the US govt, it's an interesting time to release this movie now.

Netflix is turning out some interesting documentary-type movies for sure.

I loved court room dramas and this one was exceptional. Every single actor did an exemplary job.

Superb film based on true events.

Same. Quite liked the movie. Its amazing how blind and prejudiced US's judicial system can be when motivated politically. Its upto people then to keep the system and them, honest.

The Skeleton Key:

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0397101/

Stumbled upon this well rated horror movie and watched it over the weekend. The wife and i are both horror movie buffs and we struggle to find a good unseen one

Well this was unseen and i wish it had remained that way! It did have a few moments but overall, feel free to give it a miss.
