Yes even i have experienced the same when i was working out of Accenture Bang 7 at the end of the park. Used to take about an hour to come out and when outside you wont find any signs of a traffic jam unlike whats claimed by the guards inside as a reason. It is really frustrating.

So one more bottleneck in addition to the already prevailing chaotic traffic in Bangalore.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

So, Today the traffic cops at the Doddanekundi signal suddenly decide that one way to 'ease' traffic is by stopping the right turn from the goshala road towards K.R.Puram. Heights of stupidity and incompetence. The service roads should be regulated to ensure traffic moves on the main road and not stopping the traffic on the main road, but these guys are doing the complete opposite, one of these days, I will walk up to the guy in charge (3 Stars on the collar, not sure what the designation is) and ask him, do they really have a plan or no.

Is the traffic jam within the campus in the evenings a common occurrence ?

Last Wednesday, it took me a full hour to get to the front gate ( on Outer-Ring-Road ) from PriTech Park - at 9 PM !?!

This Thursday, saw a similar "jam" at ~9 PM...

Surprisingly, on both occasions there wasn't a lot of traffic on the Outer-Ring-Road.

It is becoming a common occurrence Atleast 1 to 2 days a week.
My thumb rule: if it rains, better leave before 5, or at any cost before 6pm. The biggest problem seems to be that the security folks prioritize the exit of vehicles from ecospace thus blocking the ones coming from pritech park. So if a big company has buses leaving at a certain time, the road would get nearly blocked for about 10 minutes.

Folks like us, working in shifts do not have the luxury of leaving at 5 or 6.

I would be ok with a stuck time of 10 minutes, but that is not the case usually. Even when I leave at 9.30, I have had the misfortune of getting stuck for at least 30 minutes. It is frustrating to see the free flowing traffic in ORR, while you are stuck inside due to improper management.

Yeah. I have many times left my car at office and walked outside and taken a bus.

And a cop will jump in-front of you if you proceed by mistake. BTW there is a signal at left side as well in the first pic.

The root cause of this everyday mess is stupid planning - only 2 lanes to handle thousands of outgoing cars.
(1) The existing road needs to be widened - at the cost of campus cosmetics
(2) Open up other exit gate
(3) Plan for additional gates

I think it is time all employees make a joint protest - then the management will wake up and put pressure on the campus owner.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Bangalore traffic is becoming a case study in 'butterfly effect' (Chaos theory). Any minor thing (a broken down Auto rickshaw) can cause traffic build up spreading to 2-3 kilometers behind. This also means it is reaching a 'tipping point'? Some smart thinking is needed by the townplanners/traffic cops.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

"Some smart thinking is needed by the townplanners/traffic cops" -> I am sure everyone would agree. They should start atleast now. If they were doing some kind of planning, the press guys would have already splashed it across.

This morning, took a good 90 minutes to reach Prestige Shantiniketan from BTM Layout (6:55 am to 8:30 am)

I passed this stretch at around 5.45 PM and traffic was normal then. By normal I mean the kind of traffic you would find on any other Tuesday evening. Perhaps it was a minor incident.

This junction has a camera and I know several people who've been fined for jumping a red signal.
Yes, there is another set of lights on the side but from the direction the picture was taken, the road has an incline so if you have a taller vehicle in front or if you are on the right lane you may not be able to see it. The purpose of the overhead lights is totally lost with the tree's branch obscuring it completely. The counter is also up there and isn't visible
