Just spent an hour and forty minutes in the car from the airport to Jayanagar.. Jams at the Mekhri circle underpass till the Palace cross road magic box, jams from Atria hotel to Corporation circle and the usual lunatics on the road making life difficult for other folks...

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Horrible traffic jam today. Took me about 45 minutes to join Hebbal Outer Ring Road from Kodigehalli junction.
There was heavy vehicle jam in Doddanekundi Circle (Soulspace Arena signal). Slow moving traffic started at the base of the flyover in front of More store. It took about 45 minutes to cross this signal too.

Thank you all for taking the CISCO Innova incident seriously.

Hope the suspension teaches the creature a summary lesson.

Kudos Fauji sir for taking the much needed action!

Just wish we had a Fauji in all the companies that operate cabs for their employees in Bangalore

Congrats to the company.
Wonder how companies would take action against their own/hired transport cabbies. I know of only 1 or 2 that may do it. The rest aren't bothered.

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

From the past few days, I'm experiencing crawling traffic between HBR layout and Manyata Tech Park (direction: going towards Tumkur Road) after 5PM. This has started all of a sudden. It wastes about 15-20 min. Any idea what the reason is?

All of sudden traffic seems to have increased in Bangalore.

May be everyone is back from long long vacations (school summer vacations).

This is a strange phenomenon I have been noticing from the past 3-4 years. During school vacations (summer/winter), traffic is less. The minute all schools open, traffic volume increases.
While I can understand increased traffic around schools, and around the time schools open/close, I fail to understand why this increased traffic at all times? Is it because people are just making more trips in general (apart from the usual pick-up & drop) due to kids being in school?

That is because bangalore has huge number of mobile population from rest of the country. People go on vacations for at least 1-2 weeks all throughout in April and May , hence reduced traffic.. once school opens in June, everybody is back and bangalore is back to its congested best...

I have been travelling from Bannerghatta to Marthahalli/Whitefield for last 5 years and it is the same every year, this year is no different.

Mod Note : Please avoid typing with excessive dots.........like................this.

Thanks

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

RANT ALERT :It happened in front of my eyes today evening when i was going back home from office. For those of you who know BEML gate signal very well in Bangalore they will understand it well what i am trying to convey. traffic from 8 roads merge at one junction. All signals were functioning well but still there was a COP manning that junction. i liked his aggressiveness. He was shouting at the top of his voice and chasing the vehicles back who were trying to break the signal. There was a 2 wheeler guy waiting next to me at RED light on my RHS. still the shameless moron escaped before the signal turned green when all of them were following the traffic signal and respecting the COP. I really dont understand the attitude what these people gain by showing such behavior? at the same time we cant blame that COP as well. he is not Raavan with 10 Heads and 20 eyes to micro manage every single vehicle's movement!

I think the driver was fired from CISCO and not the transport company or am i missing something?

Re: Rants on Bangalore's traffic situation

Lines have no meaning to most drivers here. A common sight in signals.
Drivers on the Zebra crossing intend a Right turn, awaiting the signal.

Please report such incidents here: Bangalore Traffic Police

Do remember to attach the snap of the violating vehicle while reporting. The snap will be used as a proof by the cops.

In most of the cases, the 'violations' raised through the BTP portal are rejected, citing reasons such as 'Picture not clear', 'violation not clear', etc.

There are cases where the BTP has charged fines on erring vehicles caught by the public, but the numbers are too small.

Shankar,

Did Cisco transport dept reached out to you? One of the internal mailers has a thread going on about this and the actions taken by our transport dept against the errant driver.

If the violator (breaking signal, loud horn, rashly driven) is a local son of the soil, then the police will reject such claims. . The thugs have their say and way, but innocent tax payers are always at the receiving end.

BTP, BBMP have never learnt the art of working the proper way.
