I recently bought an Atomberg off of Amazon which doesn’t offer free installation. You can try to buy it directly from their site, where they do offer a free install.

In my case, my neighbourhood electrician botched up the install and the fan was wobbling at higher speeds. I raised a complaint via their site for warranty and they promptly sent over a technician who set it right. The culprit was an extra ‘s’ clamp which this new fan didn’t need.

Thank you will give this a go.

Another question, if anyone has any ideas:

One fan doesn't move when the regulator is on 1 or 2, and is extremely slow on 3 and 4 (similar to speeds of 1 and 2). When it is on 5 it is uncomfortably fast.

Does this point to an issue with the regulator or the fan itself? Anyway of checking what is the problem?

Hi Mashmash,
I own the following BLDC fans:
1. Gorilla Energy Saving 5 Star Rated 1400 Mm Ceiling Fan With Remote Control And Bldc Motor- White June 2018
2. Atomberg Efficio 1200 mm BLDC Motor with Remote 3 Blade Ceiling Fan, Sep 2020.
3. Atomberg Efficio+ Energy Efficient 400 mm 3 Blade Wall-Mounted Fan *with remote* Oct 2020.
My observations:
1. All three run for 9 months each year.
2. The electric speed regulators need to be disabled/bypassed. Speed is to be regulated by the remote only.
3. They are less noisy compared to normal fans (clashes with opinion of fellow Bhpian above).
4. Never had any trouble with any of the three.
5. Registered for extended warranty.
6. +91 91360 67083 is their service support number.
7. All can be installed DIY if you have the aptitude.
8. All purchased from Amazon.
Pls ping if you have more questions.

It is super easy. Exactly the same steps as installing any other fan. There is no touching the regulator.

I bought mine from a local shop from where I picked almost all my electrical applicances. So he sent an electrician who installed all the other lights and these fans. However, now that you have mentioned it, mine also wobble a bit at full speed, but do not make any noise. Should I still get it checked?

Thank You so much. Great points and yes the fans are definitely super quiet and have great throw too. They are still quite new and I have my fingers crossed.

s4ch, please bypass the regulator immediately. The Atomberg BLDC fans cannot be regulated via the regulator at all. If impossible to bypass for whatever reason, 'lock' the regulator knob at max speed (~5) by taping it.

Consistent use of regulator will ruin the circuitry inside and void the warranty.

On another, looking for recommendations for a ~200 litre deep freezer to store meats / cold cuts / bulf frozen peas etc. Open to both standing and horizontal ones. Any recommendations please?

Thanks itwasntme, but I think I didn't make it very clear. I currently have a normal ceiling fan and have this problem with the speeds. I am planning to get the atomberg fan that works with the regulator, but before that wanted to know if the problem I'm having now is with the current fan or the regulator itself?

My mistake, apologies. Usually it is the regulator which is prone to damage from voltage spikes or heat build-up. Maybe your local electrician can quickly swap it with another one and check?

It is easy if you have reasonable skills in wiring electrical circuits.
First of all, assemble the fan on a table with a towel so that you don't scratch the surface of the fan. Get some extra pair of wire to hook up the motor and route the wire through the steel tube provided.
Wear a rubber shoe and isolate yourself from any object. Remove the wall panel which has the switch and regulator of the fan. Identify the wire feeding the fan from the fan switch which may be connected to the regulator.

Now turn off the mains so that you don't get electrocuted. Now remove the wire going to the regulator and directly connect the fan to the switch. What you have done is you have directly connected the BLDC fan to the fan switch.

Now remove the old fan and replace with the BLDC fan.
Make sure that the cotter pin is inserted properly and bent at the end of the lock nut of the fan. I have heard of a fan falling from the roof because some electrician didn't consider the cotter pin relevant to the task at hand.

Old boxy regulators used wire wound high wattage resisters to limit the current to the fan motor. The resisters slowly increase in value or the connectors get oxidized which results in poor connection resulting in slow speed in the fan.
Recommended Action: Ditch the old boxy regulator.

You need a height stool or ladder, some physical agility, insulation tape and few tools like spanner, screw driver etc. I have replaced a lot of fans and if you know how to do it, its a 15 - 20 min job. Before starting switch off the circuit MCB, remove the two wires from the terminals on the fan (You will find it under the white dome) and then the U clamp (with bush) by which the fan is held on the ceiling. Removing this clamp can be slightly tricky but possible. Once removed, the fan will be loose and can be lowered.

Assemble the new fan with blades before hand and keep it ready. Install the new U Clamp with bushes on the ceiling rose and fit the fan on the clamp using all your acrobatic skills. Don't forget the cotter pin at the end of the holding bolt for mental peace since you are going to be directly under it.

Reconnect the wires (You can't go wrong) and then switch on the MCB and hopefully it will run. One important tip don't try to re use the old clamp. This might result in the new fan going in a egg shaped rotation as it spins.

The fan capacitor needs replacing. Hope you know where it is. Its that white thing inside the dome (or whatever you call it) and its easily available in any electrical shop. That said the regulators are equally flimsy. You will have better chances of success if you replace both.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

Any recommendations on a good, powerful vacuum cleaner for home use? I would use it on both carpet and tiled floor surfaces. Wet and dry would be even more preferable, however power is more important as it helps do the job easily. Have a kid at home who dirties the carpet and floor very often. Entire home is carpeted minus the kitchen, if that helps in any way. Spares and service support in UAE/ Dubai would be a plus.

I have shortlisted this

Any other recommendations, welcome.

Bluestar followed by Carrier. Both are excellent. Choose whichever model fits your requirement

Wobbling was quite pronounced in my case even though it wasn’t making any disturbing noises. Best to get it checked if you feel it’s not installed properly while it is still in warranty.

Re: The Home Appliance thread

The pressure sensor of my Bosch front load washing machine has gone kaput. The service guy said part will not be available. Any pointers where I can procure it? If I dont find the part will have to buy a new machine. In that case wont touch a Bosch again. Might go with an IFB. Do we have a front load fully automatic with analog controls?
