re: The iPhone Thread

Iphone 4 S costs Rs. 10,000 ($199) in the US and Rs.44,500 in India for the 16 GB model, pretty unfair, I think.

Iphone 4S 16 GB - 42500

Any inputs will be highly appreciated.
Apart from the phone and music player, what will you use it for? Is there a differentiating factor (for you) between the two. 4s has better camera though.

Heart over mind, man.

Not true, the $199 deal is only if you sign 1-2 year contract. The Indian price is without contract.

re: The iPhone Thread

Upgraded from a 3GS and got my 16GB 4S from the UK for 499 pounds Then got a 57 pound VAT refund since I was a visitor.

The camera is 8 mega pixel and takes great pictures! Apart from that everything outside is same as the 4 but more snappy!

Are the IPhone 4S available through Airtel and Aircel unlocked phones? The price I have quoted is via Aircel.

Mustang, be careful. the official price of the iPhone 4, 8 GB (not 16GB) is 37,000 INR. If you want the 4 try and get your hands on the previous stock (which is selling out fast btw), which was 34,500 INR for the 16GB model. Strangely enough, Apple has cut the memory of the 4 and raised tis price in India . If it is the 16 GB you're getting, the price was 34,500 and it is old stock, since the model is discontinued after the 4S launch.
The 4S 16GB for 42,500 is a sweet deal, considering the official price is 44,500. Im surprised you're getting a discount so soon after launch.

Congrats on the upgrade, how is the browsing experience? Any faster, as claimed?

Thanks Durango.

Well, browsing speed very much depends on the wireless network connection that you have. While in the UK, wireless speed at my apartment was 6 MBPS (download) and it was blazing fast. Back here my BSNL is around 1 MBPS. So cant make out any difference in speed. Although switching between applications, loading of applications, etc is really faster than the 3GS. The screen is gorgeous and its fun to play with Siri

On a separate note, I played with my cousin's Samsung S2 and it looks too big to hold comfortably. Maybe I am used to the iPhone's size and it looks perfect. Although Android can do all and maybe a little more that IOS can, it is no where close to the finesse and the user experience that IOS provides

That's strange as my 4S battery lasts for 2 days before and after the 5.0.1 update with wifi ON all the time, push and notifications ON. I don't keep the Bluetooth on. My call usage is not very high with just a few calls a day but regular FB, mails and Team-BHP browsing.

For Free navigation app, of course choice will be Navfree. Quite frequently gets updates too.
