Other way is to use Samsung Apps on the phone itself to download the app using wifi. Go to Samsung Apps in your menu and search for the app to download/buy it.

Another funny thing that has happened is that when I access apps through the phone and try to click on Buy for Sygic India maps it shows the app in my menu but with a faded icon with 'Paused' written underneath it. I wonder what that is.
That's a bug in bada 1.0 firmware. Happens with some particular apps. Upgrade to 1.0.2, it is fixed in that firmware version.

Re: Samsung "bada" OS thread - Tips, Tricks and Hacks

I am getting the error, 'no maps loaded, tap here to go to the main menu'

Tried installing thru Kies, and also directly thru wifi. Maps not getting detected.

Hope its not a waste of 600/-

BTW - I have Bada 1.2

^^^ Everyone is facing this issue. I think Sygic is working on fixing this issue. Don't worry about your 600/-, you can download a purchased app as many times as you want. So just wait for the issue to be fixed.

This is AWESOME !!! at that price is a killer !! the best navigation s/w around,
have been using it on my car for last 1 year +.

Phew !!! Finally we can get rid of that damn route 66 with outdated maps...

For all those getting error to download maps did you try the below ?

Note : Mobile Maps should be downloaded directly in the phone and installed to STORAGE CARD. To install applications from Samsung Apps on SD card:
1. Go to [Settings] – [Applications] – [Installation settings].
2. Tap [Memory card] option, then [Set] button.

Re: Samsung "bada" OS thread - Tips, Tricks and Hacks

Time for an app review.

Name of the app: VLC Remote
Price: FREE
Functionality: Control your VLC player using your bada device through wifi.

Features:
  • Browse files on your computer
  • Play files from your computer on VLC player
  • Control the VLC player - volume up/down, rewind, forward, full screen ON/OFF, playlist management
Verdict: Just one word for this app - Cool

As usual, here are some screenshots -

@Gandhi, i hope the Bada 2.0 does get released as expected.
I have question , which might be dumb, how do you capture the screenshots from the phone ? Is it an app or a push of certain buttons.

Re: Samsung "bada" OS thread - Tips, Tricks and Hacks

Guys,
Checked out Samsung Wave II for the first time yesterday at Mantri Mall. Absolutely awesome and flawless . The cost is Rs.15,899.
Had it been Android based, I would have bought it without even blinking. But since its BADA OS, the guy at the shop told me there are not much apps and support as well.

Please suggest if its worth going for Wave II since I plan to use it for 2 years atleast

Re: Samsung "bada" OS thread - Tips, Tricks and Hacks

Can someone provide some help on the audio quality of the wave 2 8530 when using earphones. Cos some reviews (PCworld india), Phonearena, say that the audi quality for music is quite good, others Techradar UK etc. say that it is ok, while GSMarena calls is as below average, and some user reviews have gone so far as to call it poor.

I tried hearing it, and acc to me, the sound is not crisp like on my ipod nano... the sound generated is 'different'... more busy with details, yet vocals are recessed... is this sound 'worse' or simply 'different' from the ipod.

Depends on your requirements. If you need lots of apps for everything and anything on earth, you should go for android.

With bada, all basic needs are well covered. The OS is very good with simple and functional UI. You will find apps for day to day tasks like email, social networking, browsing, camera and video, media player etc.

Now that Samsung has made VOIP available to developers, we should see some VOIP apps like Skype too. For maps there is no decent FREE solution right now, but you have sygic maps which you need to buy separately.

So jolt down your requirements and see what fits better. Hardware wise Wave II is way ahead of any android device in this price range.

Seems like they are talking only about the Wave and Wave II. No news on any updates for the Wave 525, 575, 725 etc. Hope they upgrade these phones to atleast Bada 1.2. I miss Swype on my Wave 575.

Ask about it to samsungbada on twitter, they typically reply within a day or two.

Re: Samsung "bada" OS thread - Tips, Tricks and Hacks

A few questions.
Does Wave II support listening to Music via a wireless headset using bluetooth?
Is it possible to use gtalk or chat from google(thru any inbuilt apps) ?

Asking coz the salesman did not know if it was supported
