Asking coz the salesman did not know if it was supported
The first one should be possible, but maybe others can confirm.
The second point, I can confirm. You can use gtalk from Palringo app.

It should be supported. I haven't used it myself, but that's a pretty common thing which all latest mobile phones support.

Yes, there is built-in Palringo app and Samsung Social Hub Premium should come to India sometime.

Wave II profile supports music playing through BT headset. Wave family also supports (QVGA models).

Wave I would have support after updates.

But it supports playing music not through bada App but through inbuilt app.

Re: Samsung "bada" OS thread - Tips, Tricks and Hacks

Friends, bada 1.2 is available to upgrade for Wave (S8500). Firmware version is DDKD1. I'm upgrading right now.

This is earlier than late April as promised by Samsung.

EDIT: Damn, my phone battery is only at 20% so it wouldn't allow me to upgrade. Will have to wait till evening.

Re: Samsung "bada" OS thread - Tips, Tricks and Hacks

Finally upgraded to bada 1.2. Had to recharge the mobile using data cable for 1 hour .

As expected, it comes with continuous input (aka T9 Trace). This is similar to Swype. It's just cool. I can now type so fast.

Other than that there are some cosmetic changes like the lock screen etc. UI feels slightly smoother overall. The SMS bug has been fixed, I don't see deleted messages in my inbox after reboot. Screen captured images goes now to a specific folder under Images.

The best thing about this update is, now we can download those apps which are only for bada 1.2 for example Doodle Fit.

I will update this thread as and when I find new things in this firmware.

Here are some screen shots -

Hey Congrats! I'm trying to do it too. But I get this error before the installation is about to begin 'Failure to upgrade'. Don't know what it is? You using Kies 2? If yes, what version it is? Mine is 2.0.0.11032_12

Not sure what that error is. Never heard of it. Just keep trying with that stupid Kies and you will get through someday .

@Gandhi How do i use the swype style keyboard. Was searching for a setting but unable to find it. Have you found any thing new in 1.2, some icons have changed.

You have to long press the language button (one besides space bar with En written on it). Then you get option to enable continuous input. It is T9 Trace btw, not swype.

Changes I have observed so far:
  • New look lock screen
  • T9 Trace
  • Screen captured images go into a specific folder inside Images
  • SMS bug have been fixed. deleted SMSs don't reappear after reboot.
  • Software Update option removed from Settings menu

I used to get operation timed out many times I tried to upgrade.
Finally a thought just struck me to simply remove the memory card and then try to upgrade the firmware. Viola worked without a problem.

@Gandhi - Thanks for the input, unfortunately under the Keyboard Settings, the Continuous input is grayed out.

Tried it twice. Didn't work. :( Is there a problem with XP and Kies2 combo? People here have other suggestions. tried all of them. Nothing worked. Samsung Wave - 1.2 ( DDKD1 ) arrived in India through KIES. Share your experience and problems
