Luxury cars to cost more. Mercedes cars set to become dearer by up to ₹ Rs 5.5 lakh.

Quote:
Mercedes cars and SUVs in India will cost ₹ 90,000 to ₹ 5.5 lakh (ex-showroom) more from next month, as the German car maker makes price adjustments to offset the impact of rising input costs

Quote:
An increase in customs duty on automotive parts together with an increase in excise duty and cess on fuel has had a significant impact on the company’s bottom line. The price increase will be up to 3%.
Audi too is considering price increase in a similar level and will be in effect this September.

Guts! To increase prices in such times. This is only going to result in bigger discounts being offered. Retail ex-showroom prices are meaningless as the final discounted price is the reality.

Correct, look they are losing to BMW on Discounts

With Euro depreciating to 77-78 and the overall Automotive situation, citing fuel costs and rise in the input costs is a Lie. The very same guys, who will keep the prices fixed elsewhere worldwide will do increases here twice in a Year.

Maybe they have got used to us asking more and more discounts and are only keeping us happy. Can't imagine the situation of Dealerships, they must be doing negotiations whole of the time.

Why are cars so expensive in India? Every car is significantly more expensive than it's european or American counterpart, and supercars are several times more expensive, why? And why is the price of fuel in India constantly rising, eventhough it's price reduced internationally, and why are we paying such exorbitant prices for lower quality fuel? The government is the answer to all my questions, but could someone tell me the specifics?

Road tax on cars costing more than 20 lakhs in Madhya Pradesh has gone up from 9% to 16%. Just because the new government has burned all the state money to pay farmers.

Politics of appeasement is going to kill us.

This move will either increase discounts or make people buy cars in other states and bring them into MP.

In times when the auto industry is in such turmoil it is borderline inhuman to do this.

Hyundai India may hike prices in Aug

Quote:
Hyundai India has announced a price hike on all of their hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs effective from August 1. Hyundai products will be dearer to its customers by Rs 9,200 due to the increased input cost to make the vehicles comply with the stringent safety norms mandated by the government.

I think the same issue is happening in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as well. I hope they don't follow suit in hiking the road tax.

Big discounts on Maruti 1.3L diesel cars

According to a media report, Maruti Suzuki is offering huge discounts on the old stock of its diesel cars. Discount of up to Rs. 74,000 is being offered on cars like the Swift, Dzire, Brezza, Baleno, Ciaz and S-Cross, that are powered by the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre diesel engine.

The total benefits including consumer offer, cash discount or extended warranty, exchange bonus and corporate discount on the Swift, Dzire and Brezza is Rs. 67,736, Rs. 74,105 and Rs. 66,240 respectively. The discount offered on the Baleno, Ciaz and S-Cross is Rs. 30,000, Rs. 70,000 and Rs. 60,000 respectively.

Maruti is unlikely to upgrade the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine to comply with the BS-VI emission norms that are set to come into effect from April 2020. Therefore, the carmaker could be looking at clearing existing inventory. This engine is likely to be replaced with a new BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Re: Big discounts on Maruti 1.3L diesel cars

Why would Maruti start clearing small diesel engines so soon? How are the usual discounts different than these ones?

These are just usual discounts, clubbed together by that website, and picked up by others as "big" discounts.

Exactly what I thought. In fact, if someone is looking at owing the tested, tried and trusted 1.3 MJD in Maruti clothes, there was never a better time.

Given the market sentiment, come Diwali, the discounts should further amplify.

Re: Big discounts on Maruti 1.3L diesel cars

The 15k discount on Swift and Brezza was there in December too, the only thing new is probably the 19k discount on 5 year warranty. Exchange bonus and all are fine and have been there for some time.

I am a little happy to see that Swift Diesel is getting a price correction in the form of some discounts, it costs 9.xx on road in Pune for Zdi+ which is insane.

Maruti has time till 31 March 2020 to sell 1.3 litre models and I am quite sure they will be done selling them well in advance.

Maruti would have over estimated the demand and the engine inventory might be huge to clean up fully in a shorter time frame. With the slow movement of cars in the current scenario, they needed to act quickly, though the above mentioned rate discount is not that huge, for a normal guy to jump on to.

Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

A friend of mine is keen on acquiring a Punto but it seems like the car is not available anywhere nearby. He tried calling up all dealers in Karnataka but no success. He is ready to explore options if it's available in neighboring states. Anyone has any idea about availability in other states?
