re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

The new Jazz is looking fabulous from the pictures. Any idea about ground clearance? Is it still going to be 160mm?

I think it will be in the range of 180-190mm. Expect Honda to unveil specifications for Japanese market next month. India model will have similar dimension.

If it is 190 mm then this will be a brilliant package compared to EcoSport.
-High ground clearance
-Bigger boot
-Bigger rear seat in terms of width
-More legroom
-Higher fuel efficiency

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

The ground clearance will be more then 160mm since the wheelbase will be longer then the current Jazz.
My guess is around 165mm(in japan) and 175mm to 180mm in India.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

Isn't it too early to even talk about things like Ground Clearance et al? But just for the sake of it; if Ground clearance is indeed raised to Ecosport levels, this would make one heck of an ugly car.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

Some more new on Honda Jazz coming from HondasAcura
  • Presafe tech would brake down to about 30kmph
  • Orders start 8/1, expect all info to be available by then. On sale date is 9/5
  • LED headlights will be available in some trims
  • 4WD models won't reach the dealers until December.
  • A/C control through the touch-panel in some trims (like in the SUV concept)

For those who can read Japanese, translation will help

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

4WD on the Jazz? You got to be kidding me! If it IS coming, then it has my money. Just give it a plush suspension Honda, come on. And good move on bringing in a 1.3L Petrol with the CVT. More keen to see if they are also giving an automatic on the 1.5L i-dtec.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

So according the above info from hondasacuras Japanese variant will have a 135mm ground clearance in, while the current Jazz has a 150mm ground clearance in Japan.

Wheelbase is 30mm more then the current Jazz and overall length is 55mm more then the current Jazz.Width and Height are the same.

Jazz sold in Japan have had 4WD from a long time.I doubt they will get the 1.3liter engine since they already have the 1.2liter engine in the Brio and Amaze and the current Jazz.

Jazz with its price reduced was one of the most VFM vehicle but it could never get back in the game. Looking forward to its relaunch and pricing.

2014 Honda Jazz: Here are more details

Link to News Section

Honda has released the first official images of the hotly awaited 2014 Honda Jazz hatchback, which represents the all new-next generation model. The 2014 Jazz, also known as the Fit in certain car markets, will go on sale in Japan from August 2013. The global model will be showcased at this year's Tokyo Motor Show, after which the car will begin sales in many markets across the world.

The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)-2014-honda-jazz-1.jpg

The 2014 Jazz is the third generation version of the highly successful hatchback, which has sold over 4 million examples since its introduction in 2001. Plenty of details about the 2014 Jazz have been revealed over the past few weeks. The car gets longer in terms of wheelbase, thus liberating more space on the inside. The additional space on the inside will only reaffirm the Jazz's positioning as a practical and versatile hatchback.

The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)-2014-honda-jazz-2.jpg

The India-spec Jazz is expected to come with both petrol and turbo diesel engine options. The addition of the 1.5 liter i-DTEC turbo diesel engine, first seen on the Amaze compact sedan, will finally give the Jazz the right ammunition to take on the other B+ segment hatchbacks in India, a segment dominated by diesel power in terms of sales. Honda could have its task cut out while positioning the 2014 Jazz in India, given the Amaze's price positioning.

The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)-2014-honda-jazz-3.jpg

So, a certain amount of overlap between the pricing of the 2014 Jazz and the Amaze compact sedan is a distinct possibility. Other details emerging about the 2014 Honda Jazz through MotorTrend, suggests that a 6 speed manual gearbox could replace the 5 speed unit on petrol versions, with the 4 speed automatic gearbox making way for a CVT automatic unit. It remains to be seen whether these changes would be carried over to the India-spec model.

Key changes on the 2014 Jazz concern its ride and handling. The hatchback has been bench marked against the Volkswagen Polo, a move aimed at improving the ride and handling. Revised suspension and a re-calibrated steering are the two results of this bench marking. Initial reports suggest that the 2014 Jazz is a much better handler than the outgoing version.

The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)-2014-honda-jazz-4.jpg

A raft of new features on the inside and an all-new driver-focused dashboard are other notable aspects of the new model. In terms of design, the 2014 Jazz comes with cues inspired by the new Honda family face, seen on the likes of the 2013 Civic and the new CR-V SUV. Sharper looking design elements abound with a blend of curves to soften the sharp lines. On the whole, the 2014 Jazz is more evolution than revolution in terms of looks. The hatchback will be built in India from next year, with a high level of localization likely.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

Looks fantastic especially the aggressive look of the rear profile with those chunky bumpers. It's great that they have carried over the MPVish silhouette of the old Jazz and made it look better.
The new driver oriented dash also looks nice.

Somehow it looks smaller in pics than the outgoing Jazz, maybe it's something to do with the design of the front end.

I'm guessing the 6-speed manual is only for the 1.5l i-VTEC which I hope makes it to India along with the usual array of engines

Looks are good. Waiting for the exact dimensions. New Jazz looks like an MUV now. It is not a hatchback any more.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

What I don't like:
  1. The way the tail lamps go all the way up. It would have looked better without that IMO.
  2. Rear bumper is trying too hard to grab attention.
  3. And that chrome garnish on the boot lid

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

What a radical departure from the already awesome erstwhile design! This is a part of Honda's 'Exciting H Design' and looks great! It will surely retain its brilliant interior packaging as well as the Magic Seats. Price it right, give us an automatic and you have a winner!

Welcome back Jazzy, you were missed. Time to warm up those cheque books.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

The dash while it may be functional, looks very tacky to me.
Will Honda actually lauch this in India ? What pricing? The previous Jazz, I guess, was priced at loss to the company but still didnt click in this country.
If they indeed launch it in this country, it will be a severly watered down version I suppose.
